new project

hi people, im new to this forum, but i don't feel so due to the people i find here, i like the way people interact in this place, BTW, if for example there was a chat room terminal based, without fancy and stylish buttons, just those old style chat rooms where you open up the terminal/console and you quickly find yourself chatting with Jon Doe from the other part of the world, would you consider it? let's assume the software can also send and receive files(image, video, music) and display it in the chat room, connections are via sockets and payload frames are encrypted before transmission so there can also be a secure context, all with group chat or private char as well but all minimalistic and simple, with login and register but without fancy style, what do you think? would you consider it? honestly i would, i miss those "minimal" old school chat rooms, where you needed to configure your protocols before chatting... what you guys think?

Sounds like XMPP, do you plan on creating something similar?
sure, would love to see the progress of the project or even contribute if you post it on github.

looking for work

yeah, that was called "Jabber", and it was build by the IETF(what a cool organization ah?), i like the idea of it, i think modern services lack of pure performance and security, due to the factor *fancy style and excessive UX design*, i think(correct me if you don't agree) that the world is easy stepping into the wrong direction, we went from "the software must be super fast and super secure" to "the software must be super cool and super fancy", now, not everyone would agree with me on that, but im really concearned for the future software capabilities, if we only focus on fancy style and buttons all over the the page, without giving much attention to the real target(performance) how bad can it become? 90s/2000s services focused more on the performance and security rather then fancy and useless style, the idea of entering a chat room just by opening the terminal or by clicking of the executable sounds good to me, rather than opening up the browser which consumes 4.6/8 Gb of my total RAM just by having it open, sounds a good enough reason... i wont posted on github btw, i have github but i don't use it, i don't like it haha, but if you really want to collaborate we can find other ways of intead if github... im open-minded not open-sourced... *that was a good one*... i will make it public one day when i finish it and i want people to see the source code, but i really don't want to invest my time posting on github everything i do, i used Github as well, but it annoyed me, all those "pull requests, clone, fork, etc.." i find them useless at the end of the day, if i need to spend time in something, i'd rather spend it coding and not trying to clone or fork a github repository, haha, its just annoying to me...
Yes this sounds like a good project. You should look into reviving & keeping AIM Phoenix up if you want a project with a community available to help :

https://www.reddit.com/r/aimphoenix/
http://iwarg.ddns.net/phoenix/index.php

It's mostly dead by now but if someone competent comes in I'm sure they could help get this project get further. Very cool project from a few years ago to revive AIM

i always thought about it, why is nobody talking about the oldies which were pretty good at what they were supposed to do, for average people who don't know they even have a terminal in they're PCs, it will be better a website with fancy attributes and style all over it, but people like me who like to stay connected to the ground, managing protocols and setting up the environemt around me, i prefer more the "terminal based service", it just gives you what modernity has lost... *EXPERIENCE*...

the goal is to cut off all that loading page crap and colors all over the page, which makes the service look like a candy shop, improve the efficiency, the speed, and as it will be terminal based it will also require a ZERO ms delay time for loading all that HTML crap, just to point out what made me think about this idea, is just the fact i opened chrome and i had btop running in a separate window, boooy, chrome eated up almost 5Gb or RAM as soon as i opened it, let's not talk about youtube, even worst, that's because of all those requests and js/css files the browser requests when loading the page that makes it so slow and so resources consuming, how could google track your activity and sell your data to 3th party orgs if you don't use it at all?
Sounds like a pretty good idea to me @OP.

I hate to say this, but the #1 reason I will or will not use your software will not be based on your tech, speed, performance, colors, UI, etc. It will be based on: are my friends using it. Unfortunately when the majority like pretty colors, it means the majority are on those websites you dislike. Therefor I am there too. Not in all cases - I don't mess with tiktok, twitter, etc. But the principle of where people want to chat is always going to be based on people, not design decisions.

of course, as i even stated there are people who like colorfull and fancy websites, i know it, i proposed this idea for those who have a pretty strong TECH background mindset, who want to taste and feel the Code running the software, who want to manually setup and configure they're environment(preferred protocol(TCP/UDP), latency, security(TLS/SSL), loading speed, etc....), there are lots of people who like fancy websites i know i am one of those, but i also think a serious, minimalistic, (Green Screen) like Environment, Efficient, Super Fast communication, secure, etc.. is a good idea after all, how much do you thing you are giving away to the governament? There are also people who want to communicate behind the shadows, there are people who want to keep they're traffic for themselves also there are plenty of people who are sick of the 8 seconds page loading time, all the data stolen, traffic analytics, web crawlers, page popups, and let's not even mention the most important one... WEBSITE VIRUSES... now, if people want to enter a website where maybe some malware is waiting for them, cool, but if i propose a better solution which brings up the old school style software ideology then maybe i saw something wrong in the modern times software development right? You also need to keep in mind that for every bit of traffic you consume you actually going to pay that bit, of course small amounts do not make a difference, but have you calculated the amount of countries in the world that unfortunatelly have no huge internet speed or even access to it? for us, 100GB of traffic is not much, but for countries where money and financial resources are less then average, it is much, IDK, as i always say... im open-minded, not open-sourced... haha
