Purchase BTC/ETH Now or wait until post halving?

Hi,

Currently have a portfolio in the S&P 500 but I need to diversify and believe crypto would be a nice addition.

Only really looking for BTC and potentially ETH but more of a long-term 3-4 year position. Funds are there ready to invest.

2 questions:

Do I invest now at ATH or wait until a slight sell-off post-halving?
Do I focus all on BTC or ETH?

Cheers
Why wait especially if this is a long-term investment portfolio?

I suggest a simple solution. Buy half now and then set a hard-date to buy the other half.
You can spread out that investment money in a 8 weeks buy-in period. This covers the before, the halving and the aftermath of it.
imo you should buy now, the halving is a month away, meanwhile this month it's going to keep growing, I wouldn't be surprised if it would be 80-100k by halving, post halving considering the ETF's are buying x10 more BTC than being created daily, post halving it would be x20 if not more.

If you take into account that this would be a long term startegy I'll side with Omni, I'd buy now and just chill, just don't get too emotional market wise, as in drops, spikes etc. it'll drop from time to time, last time it dropped 10k from 69k to 58k, thing is everyone was talking about 30-40k, don't time the market, just buy it and hodl.

You waited until all the hype around BTC to come and at a time where price is at an ATH to be interested in purchasing BTC?

As if you have never missed the wave in all the years BTC has been around.

It is always the right time to buy Bitcoin regardless of the price.
Considering blackrock has a bitcoin NFT approved and working on ETH, I think both are solid investments, but nobody has a crystal ball. Only put up what you can afford to lose.

SneakyBoots Discord or HF convo me.
I'd say DCA into BTC, I don't see the narrative for ETH anymore, tx fees are ridiculous and aren't even guaranteed to work lol

We'll probably see a lot of these memecoins/NFTs/Crypto casinos whatever, running on "less bloated chains" like BNB/SOL/ADA

All still dogshit IMO.

Buying later after there’s a supply reduction and shock might not be smart. Demand is already there. I wouldn’t wait much longer til after the halving personally.
🚀 Signature space for sale! PM me if you’re interested.
I would DCA into BTC and ETH. But not now at the ATH, its going to drawback a bit.

Op, do your own research, educate yourself on when to get in on any investments. BTC is high right now and it's going to make a retracement. People that's saying to buy right now have no logic behind it, same people that said buy when it hit 69k the 1st time. All I can say is educate your self and BTC is not the only investments in the world, don't experience FOMO. A month ago this section wasn't as active as before, now that Crypto(BTC) specifically is trending up, everyone is experts all of a sudden. Once the markets corrects itself this section won't be as active as it is now.

u wat mate?
When it hit 69 there was a 15% retracement, it went to 58k, problem is right now for people who are trying to time the market, like yourself, is that this all happened in less than 10 minutes. 69 -> 58 -> 62, all in under 10 minutes, you wont even have enough time to buy at 58 because it was 58 for just a few seconds.
At the current stage of the market it will be going up, retracements are non existant as the boomers are buying up every single coin they can.
Take a look at the RSI, the MA's, greed index, if you're claiming no one here knows shit and you're the only smart guy here, I got bad news for you, I follow charts on a daily basis, and my logic is now there's a chance to x2 your money, after the halving, there wont be, would be less unless we are able to get above 200k

I don't know what's your definition of a retracement, when price went back 59K, that was no where near a proper retracement especially if you looking at BTC as a long term perspective. Nobody is trying to time the market, and no one is claiming to be anything, I simply told OP to educate himself, that's all. You talk about you follow charts every day, but yet you're using lagging indicators that follows price action, lol. Make it make sense.

Solid advice right here! This may sound silly, but when you say things won't be as active once the market corrects itself, do you think that will be after the halving?

I was referring to the crypto section on this forum. The activity of it when BTC is trending up vs trending down, the activity is totally different, goes is conjunction with the fear and greed index as well(Psychology). I don't know what's going to happen after the halving, but I see that BTC made a new high is good, it's good because BTC is still building history. For ex: When a company goes public in the stock market, many investors wait until it builds some kind of history, this is exactly what BTC is doing by making new highs.
