I think there should be a feature that when users (maybe for uber only, or upgraded) create a new thread, it is posted by Stanley in convo. I think that we should see a preview of the thread in a chat message, and there should be an inline quick-reply. I think the replies should show up in chat for everyone, and it should post a reply to the thread, quoting the thread OP.

I also think that if an Uber (or upgraded) replies to a thread that has more than X+ replies already, the new reply should trigger Stanley to share the thread & the new reply in convo.php. Users should have option to see the new post preview but also see the original thread that's being replied to. They should see a quick reply where they can either respond to the thread in general, or they can respond to the specific new reply in that thread. It will submit to the newreply function, with a quote for who they are replying to.

I think this will boost forum activity by letting convo / chat users see what's going on, and respond immediately. I originally was thinking this could be done so that they are chat messages, and not real forum posts/replies, but the more I think about it... it's easier to get inline quick-reply in convo to use the normal posts system. I think that on the forums, they look like normal forum posts so users aren't "taken away" from the forum to convo.php. But on convo.php users are "taken to" the forum by seeing the new threads & replies in popular threads.

If a user posts a thread or post id URL in convo.php, it should show a preview of the main thread and specific post/reply, with the inline quick reply options.

Thanks, I know we could do it to bring in the thread/post metadata to show the preview, and give the inline quick reply options.

Stanley would need a rate limit so it's not posting immediately, and prioritize top threads or replies.
It's not a replacement for the new threads/posts pages. It's meant to let convo users know there are threads happening on the site, and encourage them to post.

could also have a rule to prevent necro-ing old threads, to skip marketplace so that it's discussions mostly and site news, and really have rules for what users trigger the posts. It could be uber with min pop or min time on forums, or min posts, etc so that there is a level of trust for the post quality.

even if we don't do a live chat w/ Stanley & quick-reply, then we could at least have Stanley announce new threads every 5-10 minutes, or share posts/threads that are getting a lot of quick loves that day, etc - like a summary of the forum with a simple list of links is an MVP for this feature suggestion. if we don't want to take on the whole convo quick reply features, at least we could have the links list going out from Stanley in convo to get users to threads more often. The data is already there anyways for mybb pages, so I feel like this wouldn't be too difficult to have Stanley on a cronjob/interval to share the data.

We could set it up so Stanley doesn't share the same threads over and over again too, like a max of twice per day or something.

if the thread or post is not good enough for convo, is it good enough for the forum?
Stanley could have a min char count to prevent tiny posts from going through, so that it's only discussions being shared maybe.
And there would be max thread shares per minute/hour/etc, and perhaps a max # of shares per user too. So for example maybe stanley would only ever share up to 3 threads/posts from you, or 3 from me - and would never share more than X posts per hour.

we can make it so its useful and cool for us without it being spam.
