Meal Prep or Food DeliveryWhich One Wins in 2024?

Who doesn't love the convenience of getting your favorite meal with just a tap?

Nowadays, food delivery apps have become way too tempting.

No dishes, no mess, just your favorite meal delivered to your door in 30 minutes. But, is it worth the extra cost?

On the other hand, planning and cooking our own meals can save us time and money. But let’s be honest, the motivation doesn’t always there especially when we have a lot on our minds.

So what do you choose Meal Prep or Food Delivery?
I've only done food delivery a handful of times, its just simply not worth the cost for me where I live. I can drive somewhere and pickup a call-in/online order in just a few minutes if I need. I domeal prep occasionally. I have been tempted to try something like the factor meals, just to save time cooking or picking up food. I love to eat, but I hate having to devote time to cooking, lol.
Nowadays, I don't cook personally unless it's something small. However, I can tell you that if you're trying to save money and, more importantly, time, meal prepping is key. It may not taste the best since it's usually stored and reheated, but it's worth it if you're on a budget.

I totally get that brother, but I wonder if you are living alone?

It’s really nice to have convenient options for when you want to skip the hassle but still enjoy good food.

Yup, it's tough sometimes to cook for one, but it is the life I chose, for now, lol.
Ha 30 minutes....
I wish that were the case. In my experience, I wait over an hour. The food will never be warm. 60% of the time im driving back to the restraunt beacuse i got the wrong order and its like pulling teeth because ultimately its the 'couriers fault'. Then I need to tip the guy who fell for the trap where they barely pay a 'contractor' whose whole job is to grab food, match the name with an address and drop it off.
Plus the extra fees.
Forget that dude, ill order online and go pick it up myself.

I completely agree! For us, with kids, it's especially tough to plan meals every day. Meal prepping may not always taste as fresh but it definitely helps save time and energy during busy days. Plus, it can take the stress out of deciding what to cook daily!

Don’t get me wrong. The convenience of doordash and uber are comfortable and dependent. However, you spend more money on that shit as opposed to making things yourself. Homecooked meals all the way

I hear you! It’s frustrating when the convenience just isn’t worth the hassle, especially with long waits, wrong orders and all the extra fees.

Picking up the food yourself saves you the headache, plus you know it's fresh when you get it!

I agree with you for sure. One of the good things to come out the covid pandemic, was the increase in restaurants/services that let you order online. I can order from my favorite place, wait a few minutes, drive for a few minutes to pick it up. All on my own time, with no delivery fee!
I've done everything I can to prevent myself from using DoorDash or any of those apps anymore. It's just so expensive. They charge more per item, then the fees, then delivery tip. I just keep telling myself there's no reason I shouldn't run up and grab the food myself.

Don't fall for a scam, use a middleman!

Glad that the tipping is not a common practice here on us but sometimes we do give some tip but not a usual thing.

Here it's how the drivers make their money. They get like $1 - $3 from the application and then 100% of whatever you tip. If you don't tip you have a chance of waiting longer for your order since people are less likely to accept it.

Oh you're already giving out tip and paying your food via online apps. Here, we have the option to pay cash on delivery, although we can also pay online in advance if we choose, without leaving a tip.

We can pay cash if we like but I prefer to pay with my card. It's frowned on here to not tip. Sometimes you'll see videos where dashers call out the customer for not tipping.
