Some people like to keep their days short while others don't always have the luxury of doing that. The longest shift I've ever worked has been twenty five hours straight non-stop with no lunch. I just snacked throughout the shift. I almost ran off the road in the work truck heading back to the house a few times. What's the longest you have worked in one shift?
I worked 21 hours. Got in at 8am, left at 5am. Back at 8am.
Probably like 9 or 10 hours, not really anything that crazy.

The company I work for wouldn't allow me to come back to work that day. I just had to take the day off, and come back the next work day.
SAFETY over everything 🙄

I was stuck working 16 hour open to close days for months. From November to January. Every single day. Including Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Bro. That. Is. Wack. That should not be allowed. I would be raising hell to upper management saying this shit is not safe.

You ready for a laugh. I went to my boss at the time and complained about it. He said "Good, it builds character."
He tried to get me some coverage but didn't have anyone he could send.
19 hours. Got an emergency call at 10:30pm and had to go into work. we got everything fixed, up and running and it was 6pm. went home and crashed. went in the next morning and the owner sent me home gave me the day off paid. Even though i was always on-call for emergencies, it still meant a lot that he did that.

He tried to get me some coverage but didn't have anyone he could send. That is usually how it goes. Always de-escalate the actual issue and deter you by saying some bullshit.

Yeah it was a terrible time in my life. I would have to get up at 5am, get ready for work, go to work, get off at 10pm, drive to my moms to pick up my kids which was an hour drive, then drive an hour home, get home around 12am, lay them down, then try to get some sleep. Every single day.

Hoping it has calmed down for you though? How's everything looking work life balance for you now

Yeah I left that company 2 years ago in August. It's definitely different. Not a field I'm used to but I like it. I can work from home on days I decide to and that's great. Family was sick this week so I was able to stay here and make sure they were okay.

haha no. But public works probably would have been a little less stressful.
