The loud boom was my toilet...my bad. I had wings, beers and lutefisk last night.

The thing that's nutty is that other cities had similar events recently.

For example, Illinois' event got barely any attention, but halfway through the article the sheriff describes the same exact thing:
- flash of light first
- then the boom

https://patch.com/illinois/channahon-min...-hes-found

This has actually happened in a lot of places over the last year or so.
I haven't heard a boom yet like that, but we did hear "impacts" where it sounded like a pillow being hit on a mattress - an impact, but a soft sound - while simultaneously "loud" for the amount of distance that sound covered.

In antigua we had 1 sound event - a loud groaning, metal on metal noise coming from the ocean. It lasted a few minutes and then we never heard it again. Of course, it could've been a boat - but not a light in sight for that.

Shortly after we noticed a drone flying across the water.

Definitely look up, but also keep an ear out for any noises you don't recognize.

I don't know much else about the bangs. Definitely could have plenty of explanations.
Just a weird coincidence I'm tracking is all.

When I lived in New Mexico, sonic booms were so common that landlords put in the lease agreement “not responsible for windows breaking due to sonic booms”

Idk I got used to them. So maybe these people just aren’t used to booms?

Eh, I don't think it's that. Sonic booms are more like a crack than this I feel like.
And it wouldn't explain the strobe effect, super bright light, or the hissing sound heard for miles.

But yeah, definitely could be something like that - can't rule it out.
I didn't feel like it sounded like a plane though and I've seen the blue angels a few times & been around other air shows, and just airports in general.

I lived a couple miles from a prominent air base for a couple years. Even frequently went on base since my family members lived on it. The base focused on training for F15, F16, and drone pilots. Lots of stuff in the sky at night and plenty of noises during the day. Sonic booms were a weekly occurrence.

That’s cool - I used to be near a military contractor that made crafts. It was probably super rare but maybe once per year if you were lucky I heard you could see what was essentially classified projects/equipment being moved but they would almost always be covered. I never went but had a landlord who worked there in the past as a mechanic and he mentioned a specific loading dock that was visible from one public area.

Fast forward to today - I’ll just watch the skies lol

Have you seen anything abnormal recently?

Na but I don’t go outside much during the night

You can try in the day too! Much rarer, but I had a few sightings in the day - just many more at night because the lights on them are much easier to spot.
