I received a email from Bonanza where it says that i owe them 10$ from a transaction that happened in september 2014 so almost 10 years ago. Wtf do i do? not gonna pay a site that i never even knew existed until they emailed me.

Can they even do anything against me? apparently the company is from Seattle US....i dont even live is US.I dont know if i post in the right place, i just look for some advices

I would completely ignore this. No company is going to sue anyone for $10. This amount at best, goes to small claims count and nothing more. And the judge would probably laugh this out of the court room.
The thing is a lot of scam emails will claim you owe them money and usually younger generations will not fall for it since they can easily google it and also remember if they did or didn't signup for something. Most of these are for old people that will fall for it and pay the 10$ since to most of us it's not much and peace of mind not having to deal with but when you think about the big pictures that probably hundreds of thousands of dollars that they are taking by sending those emails. You have nothing to worry about plus as you mentioned you don't even live in the US.

The email i received is definitly from them so in that sense is not a scam....i googled them as well to see what people say about them and some say they are legit some say they are scammers so idk

They sent a email last year as well that i ignored but this time they said this in their email and thats worrying me. "We want to resolve this matter amicably, but if payment is not made by February 10, 2025, we will have no choice but to escalate the issue through legal proceedings. Please be aware that pursuing this through the courts will incur additional costs and potential legal consequences."

I mean its fucking 10$, surely nobody is suing for 10$....
Yeah man, I would not worry about it.
I wouldn't acknowledge or reply.
A quick google shows Seattles statue of limitations on collections is 10 years.
So chances are, its an automated system that is triggered when the timer is nearing its end. Any acknowledgment of the debt restarts that timer.
So ignore them for that and also because a company is coming after you for $10. Petty shit

I would ignore it. I think it's a fake email. Normally when they give notice of a lawsuit. They have to mail it to your home address and not use email.

The link they attached to make the payment goes to Bonanza website so its definitely them and in the email it says that if the payment is not made until 10 february they have no choice but to escalate the issue through legal proceedings so technically they did not give me a notice for a lawsuit yet

Are you saying that Bonanza themselves try to scam me or someone else that pose as them? because like i already said the link they attached to the email to make the payment goes to Bonanza website

I dont plan to give them any money but since is the first time im dealing with something like this is staying in the back of my head since i read the email and i dont like it
Hey man, remember me? It's MrMcShroom. You owe me 7000 dollars. I'd like to resolve the matter peacefully, but if you don't pay, I'll have to go through the legal system. I'll give you until tomorrow.

Did they send anything to the mail? I wouldn't worry if they didn't send any notice thru the mail.

If it's $10 dollars then it's going to small claims court and like others have said no company is going to sue you for $10.
It's not worth the hassle. If they do drag you to court they will try and make you pay $10 plus their legal fees.

However, by law the have to give notice by mail of your home address. If they do it by email they have to prove
it that it's you 100% and not someone else. Which is hard to do that is why most online payments require you give a shipping address
even if the payment is for software or anything. It's so they can mail you an invoice if you fail to pay for things.

If they didn't send anything in the mail. I wouldn't worry about it. I would state to the court that they never sent him a notice and you never used their website.

That website is just like ebay. ou can instantly create shops to sell items. Someone might have stolen your credit card or banking details.
Opened a shop. Charged your account and then a few days later did a charge back but they withdrew the funds beore doing this.

I mean in the email they said that i have until 10 of february to pay the 10$ or they will have to take legal actions so if they gonna send something in the mail it will be after 10 of february

The account is definitely mine because in the email they used the name that i usually use as username in anything when i make a account but i never use my real address in anything online..... this happened 10 years ago so idk what was in my head 10 years ago

Im 90% sure they dont have my address but even if they have it i dont live in the US...

They are a company, i would assume they have their own lawyers
I would recommend reaching out to Bonanza directly to clarify the situation and see if there's any way to resolve the issue. It's important to address the issue rather than ignoring it, just to be on the safe side.
