Mass shooting in New Mexico leaves 3 dead and 15 or more injured.

Quote:Three killed and at least 15 injured in mass shooting in New Mexico
Authorities responded on Friday to reports of gunfire at a park and have asked for videos from bystanders to aid in investigation

Three people were killed and at least 15 others were injured in a mass shooting on Friday night at an “unsanctioned car show” in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Local police said the shooting occurred at around 10pm on Friday at Young Park following “an altercation between two groups of people”. There were approximately 200 people at the park when the shooting occurred.

This is crazy because I worked in Las Cruces, New Mexico for three weeks last year. I had the idea that it was a nicer area of New Mexico, but in reality there is a shit load of crime in certain areas of that state.

Quote:Las Cruces, New Mexico, has a higher crime rate compared to the national average. In 2025, the total crime rate in Las Cruces was 5,980 incidents per 100,000 people

1.5 people and 2 squirrels died = MASS HYSTERIA!!!!

This didn’t even make MSM because it was a handgun, if it was one of this scary looking black rifles you bet it would.

Doesn't look like a mass shooting, but more some thugs rallied together at a car show and some people got into an argument.

It won't make MSM because there is to much to cover in politics alone. I'm sure it made itself into local news outlets.

If it was a rifle it would have made it 1000%. “Never let a good tragedy go to waste” - MSM moto
The mass shooting in Las Cruces is indeed a tragic event, especially given the circumstances. Las Cruces is often considered a relatively quiet place compared to major cities, but like many locations, it has areas with higher crime rates. The fact that this shooting occurred during an unsanctioned car show with so many people involved highlights the unpredictable nature of such violence, which can happen in seemingly peaceful settings.

You’re right about the higher crime rate in Las Cruces. As you noted, the crime rate in the area is significantly higher than the national average, and incidents like this shooting contribute to that perception. Unfortunately, gun violence, especially in areas with high tensions or altercations, has become an issue that communities across the U.S. are grappling with.

It’s surprising to hear that you found the area to be safer than expected during your time there, but the reality of crime in certain parts of New Mexico paints a different picture. Hopefully, this incident leads to stronger efforts in addressing gun violence and the social issues that contribute to it. What’s your take on the situation? Have you noticed any patterns that might explain such violence in the area?

A mass shooting is generally defined as four or more injured by a weapon.

Let's be real. Before mass shootings in schools and other protected areas started to rise, this would never be called a "mass shooting".

10 years ago this would be called a gang shooting without question. It's quite literally two groups in Las Cruces out of all places, late at night, at a damn car show, but oh it's not a gang shooting lol? C'mon man.

I'll always have respect for the dead in situations like this, especially when most of the time it's just angry kids not having any regard for human life. Genz has proved to be great at that unfortunately. But, let's at least call it what it is, not paint it as something else to try and scare more people and rile up all the anti-gun morons.

Oh I see. I guess the subheading gave it away....."That occurred at a park after ‘an altercation between two groups of people’, police say."
I guess the media think people won't even click on a "Gang shooting" headline.

They know nobody cares about gang shootings, they happen quite literally all day, everyday in America. Americans are numb to this and have been since the late 80s-90s when it really started to become mainstream headlines across the country.

The whole "mass shooting" is nothing but a label they attach to almost any shooting that takes place in a public setting, and injures more than 1 person. I've seen multiple headlines over the years "mass shooting blah blah", and literally one person was killed, and one person was injured. MSM has run wild with their fear mongering.

The commonly accepted definition is four injured so there can be no dead or one dead and three injured and it counts, but a gang shooting shouldn't really count as it's not a random event. And serial killers are not mass murderers since they kill people serially. Some people don't understand these things.
