I think they were super ableist and snobby and they were already angry at her for having Aspergers since apparently, when she was still in high school they told all their friends "we didn't sign up to be lifelong caregivers when we decided to have a child," so that when
after she had the stroke and got "locked in syndrome" they just decided she was being obstinate, and they didn't want to be "socially embarrassed by asking anyone for help, and probably didn't want to spend the money either, even though they were in good finanical standing and had good jobs.

Complete scum and I really hope they don't get off the 2nd degree murder charges, although they may. They keep telling everyone that she just "decided" to "refuse" to get off the couch but the coroner diagnosed her with locked in syndrome, which is caused by stroke. Yes she'd have been much better off dead than what they left her to. Apparently they are "shocked" by the murder charge.

I also wonder if they really "just" "neglected" her as everyone now claims, because how could she get feces in her ears from just being left? I think they always hated her for being different and were enraged with her because they're stupid fucks.

Update. Clay and Sheila Fletcher were sentenced to 40 years in prison with 20 years suspended.Judge Kathryn Jones said "This was a tragedy. The truth is that Lacey laid on a couch and slowly died because she got no medical or mental health care."

It's one of the worst things I've heard. A YouTube channel that I always watch had this as an episode and it was one of the worst true crime shows. They were mad at her for having autism and then when she had a stroke and became paralysed they just thought it was more autistic behaviour and that she was just being stubborn and lazy. You wonder how they could handle the smell in their home when they were living such a lavish lifestyle from both having good jobs. And how could they be such moronic scum and hold good jobs?
