I don't remember if we've done something like this before, but what about a pumpkin carving challenge? Members grab a pumpkin, carve it up, and post pics in an official thread. Everyone who participates gets the award.

I have genuinely done this exact thing in the past with someone. The % of people that actually carved a pumpkin was single digits, and with only hundreds of unique visitors / viewers rather than the usual thousands from followers/subs/organic.

The truth is, I don’t know why we feel sad about the lack of activity if this is really our attitude, unfortunately… Everyone just wants to add some rewards without being active, or simply buy the prize. Wake up, guys… we need the forum to be active for everyone.
And for those who say I’m only after bytes: I earn two per reply, which means a thousand requires five hundred posts. I’m not making a fortune from this… but the laziness in the forum even pushes the active members to sleep.

I agree with you that the trend is shifting more toward AI now… but the situation is different on HackForums, since it’s a forum. I understand that discussions are preferred, but in this way we could just shut the forum down and rely only on convo. However, the forum has always gotten a push forward in October… and with things as they are, we’ll just stay the same.
The truth is, I’m not optimistic at all about people participating just to get the reward, I won’t lie… but at least I hope we try. In the end, it’s up to you as the leader.

I could delete all the forums except Site News and the Market tabs and it wouldn't matter very much at this point. I know that sounds extreme but I'm looking at reality. All our Hacking content is pointless with AI. Even though AI mostly doesn't do hacking content it's often jailbroken or people find ways around that.

Meh. We'll be fine. I'm convinced of that. I'm actually more worried about CBDC and KYC on the entire internet. If I'm forced to KYC everyone, I'll just have to disable registrations altogether and let people post without an account at all. Probably charge per thread for Marketplace. I don't know, just that whole thing worries me way more than what AI is doing.
