I've always enjoyed the Octoberfest around this time of year. It brings in a lot of conversations but I won't be attempting 500+ posts for an award ever again. That's just me but I know plenty of members are down.

Definitely not this. Octoberfest is the favorite event of HF for many where we get to engage with people weren't in contact for months. Would be a shame to kill the 4 year tradition for a purchaseable award.

It actually makes sense to do both options. Maybe I'll do the award for $50 but also do it as an Award Goal. I might do a Bytes Bonus (5000?) with the $50 donation.

Of course, you’re free to add an option for someone to pay for this prize, but that would miss a good chance to get more members involved, to wake up the forum and boost its activity… What about having two versions of the award, for example, one for money and the other for activity, and make them different? Hard?

Idk about on hackforums but I always get excited when I see Octoberfest events in my area.
The pumpkin is cool but I'd kill for a Lederhosen or Beer stein trophy

Oh yeah, sounds like a daily check-in to me haha, Sometimes it’s the topic itself that makes things difficult specially when other members post about it first, it just shows that the idea you had is already out there and someone’s already made a thread.

I don't remember if we've done something like this before, but what about a pumpkin carving challenge? Members grab a pumpkin, carve it up, and post pics in an official thread. Everyone who participates gets the award.

Members will have to put their username on a piece of paper next to the pumpkin, that ensures legitimacy.

You should have to work for the award. Spam posting to obtain it is just incredibly boring.
