I'm going to call this a moot point because there are no webcams accessible on the Internet and indexed by Shodan. One would have to go to some lengths to make that happen. I was referring to cameras like WebcamXP 5 without authentication. Let's say those cameras are in a private space. What consequences would there be for viewing them? It's without purpose, just curious (Oct 14, 2025 02:08 PM)SIM-5186353 Wrote: I was referring to cameras like WebcamXP 5 without authentication. Let's say those cameras are in a private space. I don't think that it would fall under Title 18 U.S. Code 1030. There is a federal law against recording someone without their knowledge. And then hacking into a computer system is another felony. |
