Hello everyone, hope you're all doing great, so there has been this question that has been bordering me for a while after my son raised it. Just recently saw the movie Nuremberg, my mother is germanic and my father is Icelandic, so after the movie, my son asked why the world hates Germany and I had to explain certain things to my 12 years old child. Now, the real question bothering me is fr, doesn't the world still hate Germany or Germans or just Hitler and has the wars progress and we have clearer understanding and certain fact check, if the world still hold a grudge, dont you think we were on the wrong side ? Please im trying not to spread anything antisemitic or political, just true and honest opinions. Thanks
It's understandable that your son is curious. The world doesn’t hate Germany or Germans today as a whole. Most people distinguish between the actions of Nazi Germany under Hitler and the German people themselves. Over time, Germany has worked hard to acknowledge its past, educate future generations, and promote peace. While history can leave lasting impressions, the current view is much more about learning from the past rather than blaming all Germans. So no, the world doesn’t really hold a grudge against Germans now.

Thank you for this ... quite a relief, basically what i had to educate him on, we learn from the past and most importantly evil only thrives when good men do nothing.
While history is written by winners and there are always differing opinions by people even within a single war outcome. Like some obscure difference of opinion. Still the world largely hate Hitler and what he did alongside that Nazis.
What I will say and perhaps you need to tell you kid this is that any person today is not responsible for the sins of their forefathers. Every man is responsible for his own actions. So the German nation of today will and should be judged on actions they take today.

Please use capital letters when making thread titles or the board looks like trash. I have not given you a formal warning this time. I have fixed it for you although if you read the Help Docs you will see that you should make this kind of nebulous thread title either.
Regarding your question, Germany did do things to try and get it's status back.
Funny I found out kind of recently that during the McCarthy era when some Jews from Poland were kicked out of the USA for being members of the Communist Party of the United States of America the CPUSA, Germany was the only country willing to take them in in the 1950s. And you know they did need somewhere to live.
I suppose the new German government felt that they should be good to Jews.

Pick any strand and snip and history comes unraveled.

Well speaking for americans I don't think Americans in general hold any sort of weird grudges against the country of Germany, but there are doubtlessly the odd freak here and there that probably does. Also I can't really speak for Jews... probably most people with Jewish descent despise Germany lol that would be my wager

Don't ever copy and paste someone else's post and just use it as a post without adding anything to it- just to get your numbers up again- like you did in one of my threads or you'll get a ban.
