I know A.I. is very helpful for jobs and certain tasks people have but this one thing stuck with me I heard in two years A.I. will be smarter than all of mankind. I think people should be WAY more scared than we are right now.
What do you guys think?
That seems so hard to measure. Especially since we don't have AI that can just run on its own. Every model still needs a human to at least set it up and give it instructions. So any AIs that break stuff are the result of the negligence of the person that set it up. The only ones that I am worried about are the malware models that companies are developing, because those seem to break things in new and unique ways that make huge companies scramble.

Very well put. Did you hear about the A.I. that was tasked to break out and messaged the trainer while he was eating a sandwich?
I don’t think it’ll get to this point any time soon. Especially with the current blockage of data centers. They can’t keep up with demand.
A lot of people I know have turned their homes into agent farms (hosting quite a few agents with Mac mini’s lol).
AI still has a lot to learn. And everyday we’ll feed it more and more, but it still needs us to learn from.

It’s scary to think of how fast it’s progressed though. Deepfakes etc. I don’t think people understand how powerful it really is becoming.

Deepfakes aren’t real though. It’s how people perceive them.
If there’s an AI that creates, there’s an AI that can detect.
I think it’s great that it’s progressing. I hope it can find a cure for all the things humans haven’t found; so humans can take the data and fix problems we haven’t been able to solve yet.

That’s one of the positives of A.I.
there are negatives though, like it trying to be a therapist for example. Or that it tries to agree with whatever you say. Or the weaknesses it has.
I’d love to have a job in this field so I could better understand it.
This A.I. stuff is interesting.

That’s a drawback for sure, but that’s with anything.
Say a therapist in person… is giving you advice or listening to your issues.
Well, if Chat for example is just listening… it’s the same thing as the therapist.
But when either give a response, how do you validate either?
A therapist has a license (hopefully). Chat does not.
But what or who validates a therapists license? A board? Schooling? Ethics?
AI can achieve all that.
But the question is, whose answer is right? Whose advice do you take?
It’s all on how you look at it, and what you choose to do.
If you get what I mean.
*I’m tipsy trying to write this so disregard my full ramble.

No problem at all, I’m known to ramble from time to time too lol.
For me, AI is fun to watch and play with, but I won’t be fully adopting it until I see where it goes.

I would never “fully” adopt it.
But I for sure use it from time to time to write back end that I don’t want to sit and write, when it’s the same thing over and over.
Or have it review things/check for things I missed or read over. Etc.
It’s a great way to also open your mind to new things also. Things you’re interested in slightly, all of a sudden become a deep dive.

But AI doesn't "try" to do anything. It is just predicting the most probable words based on the input supplied. So if the input asks it to be a therapist, it will do that unless there's system input that tells it to not do stuff like that.

Ah, now that I think about it, it’s probably good time to go dive down some rabbit hole or another. Have a good night!
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
People should not forget that AI is a tool to make your life easier, your life should not depend on it !
We've already trained AI on the sum total of all human knowledge. Copilot still gives terrible fixes to problems I'm having. Was GPT-5 a paradigm shift from GPT-4? Or will GPT-5.6 be? Will AI companies still be around like today in two years? Will we have invested everything into a boondoggle for writing non-human-sounding emails a little faster, making sloppy entertainment, and stroking our egos?
I am mostly worried about AI’s impact on jobs.
The worst is yet to come. Then universal basic income (UBI) will become a reality, and governments will tax the shit outta the billionaire AI master race to pay for the whole thing. LOL. 😆
All according to the veteran AI researcher Geoffrey Hinton. Love that guy.
