Thinking about joining U.S Army

Dear Hack Forums,

I want to join the U.S. Army, not because I think it would be fun, but because I want to make my dad proud. I want to show him the kind of man he raised. Before he passes away someday, I want him to know that I accomplished something meaningful. That's one of my biggest goals every day.

I made a mistake by dropping out of school, which meant I never earned a high school diploma. In the United States, you need a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification to join the Army.

The good news is that I'm fully committed to studying for my GED (General Educational Development). Once I earn my GED, I'll meet the education requirement and continue working toward joining the U.S. Army.

If I make it into the Army, I don't want easy training. I want them to push me to my limits. I want to be challenged because I believe hardship builds character. I've experienced difficult things before. When I was younger, I carried heavy tree logs with my dad, and I've run three miles without water, feeling nothing but sweat and determination. Those experiences taught me to keep going even when things get hard.

I believe the U.S. Army would be a good fit for me because I want discipline, structure, and the opportunity to become a stronger man.

My goal is to reject distractions and live with purpose, discipline, and responsibility. Time won't stop for me, and nobody else can live my life for me. It's up to me to become the man I want to be. I'll do everything I can to make my mom and dad proud.
Are you brave enough to go through with BootCamp?! Have you checked blood cholesterol levels & O2? Do you have the stamina to pull through with the roughest, soul-excruciating meaningless exercises that qualify your sack of flesh for highest honour of going through the cadet career ladder and reaching the pinnacle of fulfillment in the service of the U.S. Army?

This is your chance to prove your worth to your father, the community (& what it means to protect them) + rage death in the battlefield & scatter enemy intestines in the charred land of the aftermath from the battle. That's just my experience though, perhaps you might end up an analyst.

I have a hole in my heart. It's not that severe, but my dad told me it can be risky if my heart develops serious rhythm problems or complications. Even knowing that, I'm not going to let it stop me from chasing my dream.

I told my dad that I'd rather risk my life on the battlefield protecting my country than live with regret for never trying. That's how serious I am about serving.

I've tested myself, and I believe God has tested me too. I train at home and try to prepare myself for the kind of discipline the Army demands. I know it won't be easy, but that's exactly why I want it. People at work call me crazy because of how hard I push myself, but I don't see it that way. I'm just determined.

Everything I do is because I want to make my father proud. One day at work, I pushed myself so hard that I almost passed out. I was sitting on the floor covered in sweat, and my coworkers kept asking if I was okay. I told them, "Yeah, I'm okay. I'm not done yet." I didn't want to quit before the job was finished.

I'll do everything I can to earn the chance to join the U.S. Army if I'm medically eligible and make my father proud before it's too late. That's one of the biggest goals of my life.

I got my last name from my father which is murphy, means murphy law, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong,
Good Luck, be ready for intense bootcamp though.
If this is something you truly want to do go for it brother. It will definitely be grueling but it sounds like you’re up for the challenge. Just make sure you’re 100% sure before pursuing this.

I’ll say this though, don’t do it solely for the reason of making your dad proud. There are plenty of other things you could do and your life is always meaningful.

Regardless best of luck to you, and stay safe
Best of luck to you. If you apply yourself, you should meet US educational requirements easily.

Yes sir, you're right. I want to become a man with kids and teach them the hard way so that when they grow up, they're prepared for the real world. I'm a very overprotective brother because I grew up with a lot of women in the house. I tend to protect women all the time, but some people say I'm annoying. I guess they can't handle a real man, lol. You have to have a monster inside you. In the real world, whether it's sports or anything else, you need that monster inside you. If you can't put that monster away when the time comes, you're in trouble.

Thank you, man, for believing in me. I've struggled with sin, lust, being cheated on, and being weak. But God gave me this path, and I'm following it. Every day, I'm fighting those sins inside me and becoming a better version of myself.

My last name is Murphy. I was born with my father's name. People say Murphy means, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." Whether that's true or not, I've had my share of hard times.

It all started when I was depressed, and someone I thought was my friend told me, "Be a man." Those words flipped a switch in me. I told her, "I'd rather die than stay weak. I'll show you who I am."

Here I am, still suffering at times, but following God's path and His Word. I'm not doing this to prove myself. I'm doing it to show people that I'm not weak and to become the man God calls me to be.

As it says in Proverbs 24:5 (KJV): "A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength."
I've been an active duty Marine for going on 12 years - deployed around the world and at sea. While not US Army, I can definitely answer any questions you may have about the lifestyle, the process, and the benefits. Shoot me a PM if you have any burning questions.

I'm not a recruiter, so there are no kickbacks for me.

Sounds like you're committed.

What I will say is consider opportunity cost. Because it will take years. Is this the best thing you think you need in your life right now? Is there no better option or plan you have?

If that's the case then go for it.
