I never had a computer growing up but really wanted one. I was stuck with my Xbox 360 and with the help of a family member, showed me how to mod my own console, then played Black Ops 1 with modded loadouts and a fancy gamertag loll
What got you hooked on computers? Specifically hacking. |

My father worked in IT for many years so that was my introduction. What really did it for me though was seeing a custom gaming rig for the first time. That was a long time ago and I don't do much gaming these days but seeing someone turn a computer into a work of art really intrigued me.

modding games was definitely the gateway for a lot of people. started with console tweaks for me too and then i wanted to learn how the networking behind it actually worked.

Or just picked up some cheap rig off Craigslist. Debian Linux can run on like 512 MB of RAM, and you could even boot certain distros on a bargain-bin Raspberry Pi. All you needed was a keyboard and boom you’d be running Linux. Quit blaming your parents; you played a part too. |
