78-Year-Old Grandma Becomes World's Oldest Female Fortnite Streamer
A 78-year-old grandmother from Scotland has officially earned a Guinness World Record for being the oldest female Fortnite streamer on Twitch.
Cath Bowie, from Aberdeen, first became interested in Fortnite after watching her grandson play it when Fortnite Battle Royale launched back in 2017.
Apparently her grandson didn't think anyone would actually want to watch his grandmother stream Fortnite.
She decided to prove him wrong.
Fast forward several years and she now has over 24,000 Twitch followers and regularly streams Fortnite for hours at a time.
She started her own Fortnite account in 2018 and has continued playing and streaming ever since. She says she considers herself more of a "Fortniter" than a gamer and still enjoys the game almost nine years after discovering it.
She turned 78 on September 1 and is now featured in the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2027.
Probably the funniest part is that she basically started streaming because her grandson doubted that people would watch her.
24,000+ followers later, I guess grandma won that argument. :rofl:
Honestly pretty cool seeing someone pushing 80 actively playing something like Fortnite instead of assuming gaming is only for younger people.

Saw something about this on X the other day. Reminded me of the Skyrim Grandma for anyone that may be familiar with her. Assuming I make it to such an age, I hope to still have a love for gaming.

I'm almost 30 and kind of stopped, used to be addicted to it and had a custom built gaming rig with oled tv and rtx 4090

Was there something you feel that led to you stopping or was it more of a natural occurrence? Adulthood and the state of gaming nowadays definitely has me not gaming as much as I did when I was younger, but I do still play games a fair amount. It has always been a big part of my life so I hope nothing ever makes me stop caring for it. I suppose if I naturally drift away from it over time though, what can ya do.

That's pretty awesome. The coolest part about it is that she kept on doing what she loved despite her advancing years. If I'm still around 78, I'll consider this a win. At that point, I'll probably start complaining about how kids nowadays don't have the same level of enjoyment with RTX 12090s. I'll be playing an ancient game with duct tape on my computer.

Yeah that's kind of what I was saying. I'll just be happy to make it to that age and hopefully while being into gaming still lol. If so, I wonder what I'll even be playing. Hard to imagine what video games will be like that far down the road.

Does she actually get a bag from this? There's money in it? The oldest verified male Fortnite streamer appears to be Grand M3rt, who is 71 years old according to gaming records and reporting.
