Let’s get one thing straight: my main drink is water, period.
I'm not chugging soda all day long.
But when I do want a soda, I mostly stick to Pepsi Max since I stay away from sugary drinks. Of course I’ve tasted regular Coke and regular Pepsi side-by-side, and even in the full-sugar category, Pepsi wins hands down with that smoother, less harsh profile.
When it comes to the zero-sugar game, though, the gap is just massive.
Coke Zero is honestly almost completely tasteless. It’s like drinking slightly carbonated brown water—it has zero real depth, zero punch, and leaves you wondering where the flavor went. Diet Coke isn't much better with its weird, thin, watery bite.
Pepsi Max, on the other hand, actually tastes like something. It keeps that bold, full-bodied flavor profile without needing a mountain of sugar to back it up.
Am I crazy here, or is Coke Zero the most overrated zero-sugar drink on the planet? Who else is riding with Pepsi Max?
Definitely, Coke is way more expensive in France, so I've moved to pepsi to save some bucks, and it actually taste better
I have been on both sides of this fence before. When I was a kid it was Pepsi all the way. When I was a teenager it was Coke all the way. Mind you though that never with either of them my favorite soda overall. When I got more into adulthood I pretty much entirely stopped drinking soda and so now for instance, I couldn't confidently tell you which I prefer. I guess it doesn't matter much though since if I was going to get a soda, it wouldn't be either of them anyway lol.

For me sometimes I just have lot of days drinking pepsi max I had stopped drinking soda completely from 2019-2025 then got back into occasionally drinking some.

If I were to ever start drinking soda any bit regularly again, it would 100% be zero versions of them. Speaking of, I'm actually surprised you feel how you do about Coke Zero because I feel like I only ever see people swearing by it lol. I think it's literally designed to taste similar to OG coke as well, no? Obviously it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea though.

Pepsi Max tastes just much better.
You're right, that is unpopular. Coke on top!

Sounds like a owner of coke stock.......................
I think it depends on product. I don't have a particular favorite though. I think the zero line of Pepsi is probably better. I think I would have to get both and try them out together though.
I agree with you, I've been drinking some of the newer Cherry Float Pepsi lately and it's pretty good. Always been more of a Pepsi fan myself.

Maybe one day I'll put them to the test for myself. Again it would probably only be if I ever started to drink soda any bit regularly. I imagine in that instance I'd get those as well as multiple other zero versions of soda to see which I most preferred. Any others you enjoy?
Never tried Pepsi Max, but I remember hearing someone say that Pepsi tasted like pee. It was clearly hyperbole, but if I'm drinking soda that isn't root beer, it's going to be Coke. Pepsi just doesn't taste good.
i agree. hands down. i did a pepsi vs coke challenge a while back - picked pepsi.
