If you could only use ONE Linux distro for the rest of your life, what would it be?

EndeavourOS would be my go-to. It holds a special place in my heart, mainly because it's one of the first distros I remember genuinely enjoying.

I recently put EndeavourOS back on my laptop and found a dope Hyprland setup on GitHub. The tiling, animations, and customization make the whole desktop feel incredibly smooth. I've been loving the experience so far...

For personal computers, I've been through Ubuntu, Manjaro and Fedora. So far, I'll say Fedora. It's very stable, rolling release, a lot of driver compatibility.

I took a look at Hyprland and it looks really interesting, I should dive into Linux ricing, I'm currently on KDE flavor

Endeavour is based on Arch, right ? Have you tried other distros ? What do you like on it compared to others ?

Fedora seems so good as a daily driver, honestly. I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about it (other than basic linux problems), and it looks so smooth AND seems to run games surprisingly well.

I don't think I've ever actually used Fedora tho. Thought I had, but I was thinking of Nobara, basically a distro made mainly for gaming. It was a really good experience and honestly opened my eyes to how well games can run on Linux compared to Windows.

AND YESSSS, most of the time you'll catch me ricing out SOME type of distro 😂 then get bored, find a new distro, and repeat (very unhealthy of me).

But yeah, I haven't tested too many other distros. The ones I know for sure I've used are Pop!_OS, Nobara, EndeavourOS, Linux Mint, and a little bit of Parrot OS, mainly on my laptop. Definitely wouldn't use Parrot as my daily driver tho 😭 unless you're really into hacktivist stuff or just cybersecurity in general.

And honestly, I'm not even sure what I like most about EndeavourOS yet. I feel like my love for it comes from the fact that I've used it so much 😂 I have a bad habit of switching back to Windows for a few days or weeks and then eventually going right back to Endeavour. Maybe it's just the familiarity at this point, but there's something about it that keeps pulling me back.

mmm, linux ricer thread incoming 😁

Yeah, I used to be an Ubuntu user but I've encountered few issues after upgrading from 23.10 to 24.4, especially with Nvidia drivers

I tried to play video games on Fedora but some are still not compatible, I hope they'll be more compatible in the future, I've also though about going with gaming oriented distros such as Nobara

Can't wait for the Linux Ricer Threads :D I think I'll need to dive into it to better understand how the system works

Ooo yeah I feel you on that Nvidia drivers part, sometimes I'll be wanting to switch from Nvidia to AMD, just so I dont have to go through the Nvidia driver headache of setting it up, and the annoying part about gaming on linux is that a game can work one day and then the devs can cut access from linux the next day..

like Apex Legends for example, I played MONTHS on that game using Nobara and then I may have raged a bit and took a break, then just a few weeks later I go to get back on and all of a sudden linux players can no longer access the game :( still heartbroken over that one, apex use to run SOOO good on linux.

AND YESSS THE RICER THREAD!!! there's already so many Pre-made rices / dotfiles you can find all around, especially on github and stuff which makes it easier to learn because then you can fine tune it to your liking and just see how things change in real time, its so nice and oddly addicting, even when something messes up.. but most of the time its pretty cool because you can do it without having to wipe your entire OS.

honestly if someone doesn't make that thread soon, I will for sure make it tomorrow when I wake up 😂
