Hey guys,
I see a lot of people asking for suggestions on builds, opinions, and also asking many other questions about what will or won't work, or what build would be suitable for certain PC uses. This is the reason for me starting this free service.
I will be suggesting all builds for anyone, without cost. All you need to do is tell me your budget (preferably AUD or USD, otherwise I can convert whatever currency give me), any preferred parts or specifications, what you will be using the PC for, and if you plan to overclock or not. I will then reply and suggest a build, ASAP.
Feel free to ask any questions here. Other people are more than welcome to make suggestions on the builds that I suggest, or even suggest builds if I haven't replied, if they feel it's necessary.
I have experience in this, since I have built my last 2 PC's, and am going to build one soon - the build I came up with is here. I also commonly provide suggestions for friends, and know quite a lot about the variety in quality of hardware.
Please post your suggestions in this form, or something similar:

Planning on building a computer here soon, would like to compare opinions.
Budget: $2,500, can go higher, but not to much (maybe $3000)
Personal Preferences: Intel, GeForce,
Planning on o/cing: No, but would like to have the option available.

Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E PRO Motherboard $206
CPU: Intel Core i7-950 $329 (an i7-960 is double that price.)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 $239
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1GB External Exhaust x2 [SLi] $498 (Prices are going down in a few weeks.)
ODD: Lite-On IHAS524 24x DVDRW Super AllWrite $29
Case: CoolerMaster HAF 922 Case $145
PSU: Corsair TX-850 $178
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ $69
SSD: G.Skill Phoenix PRO 60GB SSD $159
Cooling: Thermaltake ProWater 850i Liquid Cooling System $165
$1987
Prices are approximate, you could probably get it for cheaper, I just used one site as a reference to prices. They're in AUD but at the moment AUD is just above USD, so there won't be a huge difference.
You can get your OS here pretty cheap.
This is a pretty powerful build, you can do just about anything with it. I have the cooling and the high power supply so you can overclock your GPU and CPU, and you can do it pretty well since you have water cooling, I think you can get your CPU to 4.5GHz.
I've left you $500 to find some good speakers, mouse, keyboard, and monitor, it shouldn't be hard finding these.
Do some more research on the build, see what others suggest as that's just my personal opinion on what you should do.
I would get a full tower. Also 2Xgtx460 is silly. A single gtx480 or 5970. Screw being buyist and getting nvidia only. I wouldn't get water cooling, its just lots of work. Especially the big loops. Stick to a high end cooler. Also get a bigger SSD maybe a OCZ Vertex 2? Seeming they are some of the best atm.
Also think you could get a better mobo.
If he has over $2000 to spend, and wants to overclock, I thought watercooling would be pretty effective. Also, 2 GTX460's are cheaper and more efficient than 1 GTX480, and he preferred a GeForce, so I didn't go with a Raedon.
What are your suggestions for the mobo?

This was my old build I was going to get, its pretty decent, especially for gaming. If you want a cheaper price, you can probably get 2.1 speakers, or a smaller monitor.
Speakers – Creative Inspire T6160, 5.1 channel Speakers $66
GPU – EVGA GeForce GTX460 1GB External Exhaust $249
CPU - Intel CORE i5 760/2.8HGz/8MB Cache $226
PSU – Antec 550W True Power 120mm fan $108
Monitor – Acer G245Hbmid 24" $204
Motherboard – Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R MB $165
RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 $78
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB $59
Case – Coolermaster CM 690 $99
ODD: Sony DVD burner $27
Total: $1215
Prices are approximate.
If you want a cheaper price you can probable get 2.1 speakers, or a lower quality set of 5.1 speakers, or downsize the monitor.

This is a Whirlpool build, but it's really decent for the price.
CPU: AMD AM3 Athlon II X4 640 $118
Mobo:Asus M4A78LT-M-LE $62
RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 $78
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB $59
GPU: Gainward 768MB Nvidia Geforce GTX460 $179
Case & PSU: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition w/ 450W TT Litepower PSU $73
ODD: Sony DVD burner $27
Total: $569
This doesn't include peripherals, so it's a bit under your suggested price.
Monitor: Viewsonic VA1938W-LED 18.5 $129
Speakers: Creative Inspire T3130 2.1 Speakers (I assume you'll use gaming headphones.) $49.00.
Total with peripherals: $747
Prices are approximate, you might be able to find some cheaper prices.

for the first build above, why the two rams? a kingston and a gskill one?
for the second, i recommend going with phenom II X2 which is a lot better in gaming because of the big cache size

Mistake in editing.
And the second person wanted a quad-core.
I think in your OP you should add an option to your request form which is to include speakers, monitor etc
