A suggestion regarding the damn suggestion section. Before Omni closes it again.

So I was told last time this section was closed, it was because Omni lost too much time being bombarded with retarded and useless suggestions and had to waste too much time reading each one of them and explaining why they wouldn't work.

If that's the case, it's only a matter of time until it happens again. This section seems to have opened today and already there are dozens of suggestions so stupid the authors should be banned for a week for even taking the time to write that crap. I made a thread regarding this, some months back but staff locked it without any explanation.

Suggestion: Basically, how about some type of filter for suggestions? Like, a suggestion would only be forwarded to the admins after gaining enough popularity/feedback/support from the other members or even staff? Or like every suggestion should have a poll and would only be forwarded to Omni after a certain amount of positive votes?

This would spare the admins sooo much time. The retarded ideas would be ignored or receive too much hate (which would lead staff to lock the thread) and therefore filtered out.

I predict Omni would have to read 3-5% of them and this would prevent this section from being a pain in the ass and getting it closed again. Because it's not fair brilliant ideas aren't even heard because of the amount of bad ones.

This would prevent it from happening.

Sounds like a bill going through the steps to get to the President. He can choose to veto it or not.
Exactly, perfect idea. Like the idiots that make stupid threads will be trashed and if the idea is stupid enough I am sure he will be negged for it by a lot of members. Make people FEAR putting in suggestions UNLESS they are POSITIVE it is a good one.

Exactly man. Imagine if the president had to listen to EVERY single voice that has an idea... He too would close himself to suggestions immediately.
That's why it doesn't work that way. He has people that filter out the useless crap for him. And if it's too retarded to go forward, it won't go forward. Simple as that.
Do you really think Omni look trough them all? He only opened for receiving less PMs. Well I agree there is stupid suggestions, but they will probably get closed by staff depends on the stupidity level 😝

Yeah but we can overrule the president's vote with 2/3 of Congress approval. I call a seat on Congress for HackForums!

OT:
It sounds good in theory but in all reality it will be more work for staff members; in all reality staff probably are more busy than Omni who isn't online much due. Staff deal with reported posts (Must be hundreds of them a day), banning, limiting, warning and so much more. Making them weed out bad suggestions is just one more things staff will be required to do; I know that if I was part of staff this system would piss me off. If we use members all it will do is cause people to be bias, if a high quality member like Mothered posts a thread people will support it just to kiss ass but if a member with a great idea is new HackForum's members will most likely ignore it.

Once again this sounds good in theory but too many undeclared variables would probably make this more of a pain in the ass than the current system. In my opinion Omni should just close this suggestion section, most suggestions are not worth anyones time and I have yet to see a needed suggestion.

I remember reading his explanation on why he closed it and he said it consumed him too much time having to read dozens of ideas every single day that didn't even make sense. So yes, I think he read them.

But with something like this, I can imagine threads getting 3, 5, 7 pages of debate before Omni actually decides to analyze them. And in the end he could still say no.

So I think it would be really helpful. ;)

But who said it would have to be on staff's shoulders? I mentioned staff about those threads that turn into flame wars. I'm not saying staff should do Omni's job and analyze the suggestions themselves. People are not stupid, if I made a suggestion and everyone started flaming, I would lock the thread myself. No need for staff intervention. Plus most threads don't even gather attention at all. Some are so stupid they eventually die out.

What if there was a rule like:
After 100 positive votes, you can PM Omni with the link to your suggestion thread as long as the negative votes make up less than 50% of the positives.

You see? No need for staff there.

Sounds stupid, democracy makes everything complicated anyway.

Sounds like a decent idea.

The rule suggestion I made wasn't actually a suggestion. It was just to explain Symbiotic there would be no need for staff to have additional massive work with this.

Regarding your opinion on democracy@ Even some politicians themselves admit democracy sucks in several aspects but it's the least worse of all political systems.
