How do I stop "Software manager" & "Package Manager" relying on Tor in Ubuntu/Mint?

Hey :)

Soo.. I installed Tor a few days, and I use it with Chrome when I want to browse anonymous, just incase websites keeps tracks of me.. I'm very paranoid sometimes.. So I'm using proxy switchy extension on chrome along with Tor, works fine.

But the problem is, is that tor now depends on both the package manager and the synaptic manager and even from the terminal when updating, if I don't have tor running, it spits out connection errors, and if I even try to install new applications through software manager, the installation bar won't even budge.

How do I stop this?

Thank you :)
I recommend just getting a VPN and set the network settings in chrome to connect to that if you only want it in your browser.
Ah, Well I'm waiting for my money to come through, then I can buy a VPN, but for now just using Tor.

Is it not possible to stop Tor from relying on the whole system rather than just on the browser? :(

It only does it btw when I add this line to the privoxy config:
forward-socks4a / localhost:9050 .

With it, it takes the whole system as a proxy
Without it, it refuses to work at all
This is just a shot in the dark, but Tor might have proxy settings that you can mess with. I would just wait until the VPN shows up though.
Is there a Tor extension for Chrome? I know there is for Firefox and it doesn't cause this.
