How can I make a read only virtual disk writable in Ubuntu

I made a virtual disk in Windows. And would like to remove it in Ubuntu since I no longer have access to the Windows PC. The virtual disk is mounted as part of a USB stick and in order to try and change this problem I have ran the following commands.

Code
mount -o remount,rw '/media/mydisk'

Code
chown -hR root '/media/mydisk'

Code
chmod a+rw '/media/mydisk'

~

The 1st command just skips down to a new prompt, but I can't remove the files
The 2nd command attempts to change the files but then reminds me its a read only file system.
The 3rd command does the same thing as the 2nd command

~

I'm out of ideas if anyone has anything I could try or input please let me know.

Thanks...
