recently I wanted to make my computer faster so I googled it. And it told me I can increase my speed by updating my drivers so I went to the hardware manager thing and had microsoft update the drivers but when it went to update my sound one it was installing it and then it gave me a blue screen and then when I restarted my sound did not work but system restore is not on and the driver did not fully install what should I do to fix this?

can you roll back to the last driver?

to do this:
1. Open device manager

2. navigate to the audio driver you have installed. (it should be under Sound, Video, and Game controllers)

3. right click on it and select properties.

4. click the driver tab when the dialog box comes up.

5. if the option roll back driver is enabled you have the chance to roll back the the last driver before installation of the new one.

5A. if it is greyed out then you have to click the uninstall button.

5B. when you clcik the unsinstall button it will prompt you if you want to do this. select yes.

5C. you may have to restart the computer to complete the uninstallation

6. now locate your driver disk that came with your computer. if you do not have this disk then go to your computer manufacturers website to download the audio driver from there.

good luck
Can I have the manufacturer of your computer and the model? I can find the correct driver for the sound. As for updating drivers through microsoft update, sometimes it can give bad drivers(at least from my experience) and cause bluescreens as you had.

+1. Please tell us the manufacturer of your computer. Common sound drivers are Realtek and SigmaTel. Tell me if you recognize any of them.
