Quick Multi & Selective Quoting

Greetings,

I've been seeing this in a lot of forums and I've implemented it on some of my previous ones as well. This is really convenient and removed the difficulty in quoting posts.

Quick Quote
I saw a closed thread regarding this before, and the issue was about big posts being quoted. Disallow the feature on the first post. Usually the big posts are the first ones. Or, add a maximum post length limit so the feature won't work if the post is too big.

Multi-Quote
Feature speaks for itself. It will be very convenient for OPs as well as other users to answer or reply to multiple posts at once. This will not appear in the quick reply box like how it works in other forums. After pressing the multi-quote button, pressing the reply to thread button will open the full editor. I know this was disabled and has been suggested to bring it back before and Omni denied it for database issues but I just wanted to state my opinion on how this could be. But if would create duplicates in the database wouldn't that mean that the regular quote button does the same? Or am I misinformed?

Selective Quoting
Another feature I've used in the past. All you have to do is highlight the part of the post you wanted to quote and a button appears after a couple of seconds. I added a delay before the button appears to keep it from annoying users. I know it's easy to just quote a post and delete the part you don't want, but this would be really convenient if you quote a part from a big post where deleting a wall of text is a pain.

Other ideas to improve this suggestion as well as creative criticism are welcome.

Great idea! I agree. Members unnecessarily quote the whole OP.

Had this feature, was removed for a reason.

Have you used this feature for MyBB? Or is it available for MyBB?
For quick quote/multi quote use this https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/128231

I think it should be added back.

I really like that idea as-well.

The script doesn't work.
I use the userscript for multi quoting, works great.

It was denied earlier, Omni doesn't like the feature.

Omni's reason was the misuse of the function and the duplicate content in the db. I assume the duplicate content is because of the quote? If so, then the regular quote feature does the same thing.

The selective quote I talked about was a mod I installed for an IPB forum. I'm not familiar with MyBB but I've seen really amazing features and mods for it. I assume this is absolutely possible for this software and could be written by a good coder in a short amount of time. If it helps, I can probably search for that mod on IPB and the coder can grab ideas from that.

I haven't tested the script mentioned above but assuming that it does, the author could easily put in a malicious code. I prefer trusted sources for features. In this case, a mod or a custom feature in the forum's source code.
Omni doesn't like pre coded stuff, he codes for himself and makes efficient safe and efficient plugins. Multi quote wont be added back, you can use external userscript to do that.

BTW : Found something.

That quick quote script really solves the problem for multi quote and also quick quote.

Just click multiple posts if you want to quote them all.

I use Chrome. The script will only work with Greasemonkey on FireFox. Not much of use to me. Although I would really love the feature.

Install tampermonkey, then you can install userscripts.

Install TamperMonkey from the Chrome Web Store. Then follow THIS tutorial.

Already using it. All I needed was greasemonkey's equivalent for Chrome which is tampermonkey.
The userscript is fine for this. Only thing it doesn't do is timestamps
