Top 25 Seiyuu Singers

I decided to start off this issue with a comprehensive list of the best of the best musically adept anime voice actors.
The list was compiled by a group of seiyuu fanatics, and I believe it to be quite accurate by my standards.

The list goes:

Tim Burton Voices A Dog In Kami-Usagi Rope Anime

Well there's always a first time for everything. During his trip to Japan this month, the American film director Timothy Walter aka. Tim Burton (finally) made his anime voice-acting debut in the Kami-Usagi Rope anime, voicing a dog named "Tim-Inu" which slightly resembles himself actually. Kami-Usagi Rope is a series of anime comedy shorts by Yūji Uchiyama and the Oscar-winning animation studio Robot. Upon being offered to voice said dog, Burton agreed without a second thought and said with joy that the dog looks just like him. The short will air during Fuji TV's morning program Mezamashi Terebi early next year.

In the short, a high school rabbit named Rope and his quick-tempered squirrel friend Akira have random conversations as they walk through their working-class neighborhood to the movie theater. Uchiyama, who directs, writes, and designs the anime himself, personally directed Buton's voice-recording session. Burton speaks not only in English but also some Japanese lines.

Robot has previously animated Kunio Katō's Tsumiki no Ie, the short that won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2009. they later animated the 2009 Ring of Gundam short, the last Gundam anime that Yoshiyuki Tomino created and directed.

“Manga Is Turning You Into Herbivores”

75-year-old American statesman, former US Secretary of State and 4-star general Colin Luther Powell recently gave an interview to Asahi, in which he warns the Japanese youth of the dangers of being lead astray from the true path of jockdom by manga and video games, and the need to work hard and breed more so their elders can enjoy the pensions they voted themselves.

The interview:
Colin Powell Wrote:Some young people, called “herbivores,” choose games and manga over real love. What do you have to say to such young people?

“Young people must not only be aware of the problems facing the nation, they must also make progress as well. They can’t just sit around reading manga and texting.”

“The demographic crisis facing Japan is very grave. A small number of youngsters must support a large number of old people.”

“America is ageing too, but we are letting in plenty of immigrants, and thanks to them lots of kids are being born. Japan doesn’t have that. Japan’s ageing is severe, and the people who are going to have to pay for that are the youth of today.”

“The value of Japan’s youth is greater than that of the US – Japan doesn’t have the luxury of letting its youth turn into herbivores. It must have its young become strong and hone their muscles.

They need lots of protein, and to train themselves hard. It’s important that they face up to the future and work towards solving Japan’s ageing society and low birth rates. It’s the young who will determine the future of Japan.”

“The Japanese didn’t use to be herbivores. I’d like them to take a look at themselves in a mirror and reflect on that. They’ve overcome many difficulties – after the war they achieved massive economic growth. They came back from every difficulty.

I really respect that Japan, I’m proud of our alliance with them.”

Coming from a nation which is widely revered for leading the world in obesity, warmongering and lately budget crises, there is a certain sense of this being a case of the pot calling the kettle black amongst the Japanese (to say nothing of those who wonder why an entire generation must sacrifice itself to pay the unfinanced pensions of an older one in the first place).

Nekomonogatari 2nd Promo Streamed

This Friday, Aniplex streamed a second promotional video for the anime adaptation of NisiOisin's Nekomonogatari (Black) novel. The anime will premiere in Japan on December 31 from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (JST).

The anime will debut in a synchronized broadcast on the video-streaming service Niconico and Japan's Tokyo MX and BS11 television channels. Niconico held an announcement event for the anime last week.

Nisemonogatari director Akiyuki Shinbo is returning as the anime's general director, and Nisemonogatari series director Tomoyuki Itamura is directing at the studio SHAFT. Shinbo and Fuyashi Tou are in charge of the series scripts, Akio Watanabe is again serving as character designer and chief animation director.

The anime's first Blu-ray Disc and DVD limited-edition volumes will ship in Japan on March 6, 2013 for 7,350¥ (about US$89) and 6,300¥ (US$77), respectively. The second volume will ship on April 3, 2013. A premium screening of the anime was previously planned in Tokyo at the end of the year.

The original novel contains the "Tsubasa Family" story, set between Kizumonogatari and Bakemonogatari, with the character Tsubasa Hanekawa.

Samuel L. Jackson Joins Live-Action Kite Film Cast

Dear lord, many of these for the past two weeks... This time around is a bit more abnormal than Tim Burton's voice acting debut though. According to an interview posted by the Movies.com website on Monday, American film/television actor and film producer Samuel Leroy Jackson will be joining the cast of the live-action film adaptation of Yasuomi Umetsu's Kite hentai OVA (a good one by the way). Samuel will shoot his scenes in Johannesburg, then proceed to his role in the Captain America: The Winter Soldier film.

The Film Business Asia website reported last year that the film will begin shooting in South Africa on a US$12-million budget, although it said at the time that the filming will begin in January of 2012. Director David R. Ellis was put in charge of the project earlier this year. Ellis had directed Jackson on Snakes on a Plane, but Jackson did not confirm if Ellis is still attached. Distant Horizon's Anant Singh and Brian Cox were producing the project along with Moisés Cosio and Alejandro Saevich of Detalle Films in Mexico.

According to Variety, the Kite remake will be an action film about a young woman with financial troubles. A corrupt security force that had been selling young women murders her police officer father. The woman teams up with her father's former partner to uncover the mystery of his death, unaware she was betrayed from the start. Film Business Asia said that "Distant Horizon sources describe the new film as a 'full on female actioner' with 'gritty realistic action.'" It has not been disclosed whether the erotic aspects of the OVA will be included, although so much can probably be taken for granted.

Jackson was also the executive producer and cast member of the two Afro Samurai anime projects (which also had live-action plans), and he voiced the character Zog in the CG film version of Astro Boy. He just finished shooting Spike Lee's remake of the Oldboy film.

American entertainment corporation Media Blasters released the original Kite anime and its sequel Kite: Liberator in North America.

Comiket Bans Kuroko no Basket

The Comiket organisers have announced their response to terrorist threats against the event, but they are to ban all works featuring the subject of the threat – Kuroko no Basket – and hold Comiket 83 as normal, if absent the hundreds of circles comprised of Kuroko fans, a decision they blame on the police and venue.

The official response:
Comiket Wrote:It is exceedingly regrettable, but we must insist on suspending the participation of the below listed “Kuroko’s Basketball” circles [a long list of circles is attached], and ask any circles planning to distribute related goods to refrain from so doing.

This decision was made in order to protect the safety of participants and ensure the continuation of Comiket, and it is most inexcusable and we offer our sincere apologies.

Please also consult the tightened security restrictions for Comiket 83 [this describes baggage searches and forbidden articles].

The Kuroko-related terrorism threats of chemical attacks have officially been judged credible, already having been made against a school and also forced the cancellation of other doujin events.

The possibility of Comiket itself being forced to cancel was evident, but it seems the result “considering their response” was a Kuroko ban instead, which is presumably judged a safe compromise between risking the threat of a gas attack and shutting down the world’s biggest anime event because of a crazed fan.

As some of you may have noticed, we took a few week vacation unexpectedly. Originally we hadn't planned to have it so long, but exams ending, Christmas coming up, work duplicating in hours, and lack of enthusiasm played together in perfect harmony to make me postpone it to the next weeks three times over..
Now Happeh being ill this week ended up with me soloing the 29th issue. Many thanks to Black Hole for the encouragement, wouldn't have started it without him <3

Anyway I plan on keeping the pace for the following weeks now, I'll make announcements beforehand if exceptions come up.
8-) "Twp is back with yet another review" I fucking love these articles really i do. your wording is just awesome as fuck also...

Yh, I've read so many articles pertaining to this case over the past month or two it's truly amazing. Been trying to sift out the major ones, hopefully not leaving out too many details.

Quite the ruckus one individual can make.
Brilliant edition, got summed up on everything that have happened <3

But really, Tim Burton?
I had never expected that, I like his movies and all, but really?
That's kind of cool ^^

Great job with the news <3
