Touhou Event Cancelled Due To Kuroko no Basket Threats

Last Thursday, the organizers of the Touhou Project dōjinshi event "Touhou Kamui Matsuri 7" announced that the event had been cancelled due to the recent spate of threat letters aimed at Kuroko no Basket that have captured national attention. The organizers did not say if any threat letter or letters were specifically directed at this particular event. The event was scheduled to be held at the Sapporo Teisen Hall in Hokkaido on February 24. The organizers will refund all circles that had planned to attend the event.

Additionally, Studio You, the company that organizes the Kuroko's Basketball-themed "Shadow Trickster" dōjinshi events across Japan, also announced on Thursday that the "Shadow Trickster Sapporo" event has been cancelled. The studio specifically cited the recent string of threats surrounding said franchise.
The "Shadow Trickster Sapporo" event was scheduled to be held at the same Sapporo Teisen Hall as "Touhou Kamui Matsuri 7," but two weeks earlier on February 10. The "Shadow Trickster Sapporo" organizers had originally planned to increase security, perform bag checks, and take other safety precautions. However, after the event hall received a threat letter or letters, the organizers decided to cancel the event altogether.

Seiyuu Dakimakura?

Ironically enough following the recent hype of dakimakura (body pillows) around the AA section, last Friday the voice actress Haruka Tomatsu (Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun's Shizuku, Hanasaku Iroha's Yuina Wakura, Anohana's Anaru) revealed on her official website that a limited number of dakimakura featuring images of her will be sold during her "Haruka Tomatsu second live tour Sunny Stage!" tour, which launches on Sunday in Osaka. The dakimakura cover will cost 9,000 yen (about US$100).
Other goods being sold during the tour include T-shirts, towels, cell phone straps, pouches, socks, pens, and train pass pouches.

In 2010, voice actress Rie Tanaka also sold a pillow cover featuring her image as a special item at her "Live de Rie 2010 ~from the heart~" concert event.

Shanghai Alice Collaborating With Eyewear Store

And here we have what I believe to be one of the most brilliant marketing tactics I've ever seen. The Tokyo eyewear store Eyemirror recently asked Shanghai Alice, the well-known, single-member doujin company responsible for the famous Touhou Project franchise, for collaboration. The store then announced last week that it has started offering eyeglasses in the design of two Touhou characters; Hakurei Reimu (size 52-16-137), and Kirisame Marisa (size 51-17-140).

Each design of glasses is limited to only 200 serial-numbered pairs. Each pair of glasses comes with an original glasses case and original glasses cleaning cloth. Each pair will cost 13,650 yen (about US$156), and are planned to go on sale on January 5.

According to eyemirror, Shanghai Alice was unsure of whether to do the collaboration when first asked, as there are no characters in the Touhou Project universe who wear glasses. However, ZUN understood the passion of the glasses artisans who wanted the collaboration to happen, and decided to give permission to produce the glasses. Then, eyemirror commissioned the company “sign," who had also produced the popular “Less than human” glasses previously, to produce the “TOHO MEGANE” brand of glasses. After considerable effort was made drafting the designs, the glasses were approved for sale.

First Index Moviegoers Receive Endymion no Kiseki Novel

While supplies last, the first people who see "Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki" film in theater will receive a copy of the 224-page novel written by original creator Kazuma Kamachi. The stock lies at 103,000 copies.

In the all-new story of the film itself, just before the completion of the Academy City space elevator "Endymion," the main characters Kamijo and Index encounter a level 0 girl named Arisa. The Magicians are after Arisa, and they attack Academy City. A female leader named Shattoaura leads a unit from Academy City against the attack. Kamijyo and Index learn from Stiyl that Arisa is key to a brewing war between the sides of Magic and Science.

Hiroshi Nishikiori will be returning to direct this new movie at the studio J.C. Staff (with CG produced by Sanzigen). Hiroyuki Yoshino is scripting the film based on Kamachi's original Endymion no Kiseki novel, with critical adjustments and alterations, and Maiko Iuchi will again be composing the soundtrack.

Novel illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura is drawing several new characters for the film. Kamachi also wrote several dozen pages that flesh out new details of Academy City and the Magic side, sample text for characters and scenes, and story details just for the film.

The film will open in Japan on February 23.

EDIT - Just finished that AMV, super sexy. Very well done crossover.

[$AM‎]

Another week means another issue of AA Weekly. I read the whole thing for the love of anything animated. I'm also awaiting for the New Monogatari season since it has its fanservice in the first season.

[venusuar]

Great week and great AA weekly. Personally hearing for the first time about the new season of Mongotari I almost fell out of my chair spilling my chips (no I am not fat I just enjoy late night snacks). Anyways great post hope to see more. Also if you can I'd like to have a threat letter translated to see what could cause a massive event to be canceled. I know it's asking for a lot but I am really curious.

[Tasemu]

Nice issue man. I only really enjoyed the first story but thats just personal preference.

[Rakshasa]
