INI Filesystem

So, here is my INI File system. I'm not going to spend ages explaining it - I'm tired.

The system allows easy file creation, edition and removal. The natives are designed to the best of my ability to be bug-free and of course, efficient. I made this so it would be easier for me to create files in my projects! :)

Functions (Click to View)

Function: iniGet(file, key)
Parameters: "file" = The file to read the data from
"key" = They ini key to read the data from
Return: fetched data as String

Function: iniSet(file, key, data)
Parameters: "file" = The file to write the data to
"key" = They ini key to write the data to (if they key does not exist, it will be created)
"data" = The data to write to the ini key in the file
Retun: an integer value, either 1 (write suceeded) or -1 (write failed - function terminated due to error or finished with no write)

Function: strFind(haystack, needle)
Parameters: "haystack" = The string to search in
"needle" = The string to search for
Return: an integer value, the start position of the string - it will return -1 if it was not found

Function: CreateFile(file)
Parameters: "file" = The file to create
Return: 1 on success (file created), or 0 otherwise (file already exists).

Function: GetLineFromString(str)
Parameters: "str" = The string to look in
Return: The position of the new line reference (Environment.NewLine). -1 if an error occured or it could not be found.

Function: DeleteFile(file)
Parameters: "file" = The file to delete
Return: 1 on success (file deleted), or 0 otherwise (file failed to delete).

Save the file to your main project folder as 'ini.vb' (or whatever you want to call it)

Functions should have an As clause. Why are you returning 0 or 1? Where is the functions modifier? What about exception handling?

An INI filesystem? 🤨... Windows started out with INI for settings and configuration, and then realized that it was horrible for larger and more complex data, which is why XML, and also the Registry exists today. So what is the reasoning behind this idea of using it as a filesystem?
