Laptop always overheats?

I'm forced to use this really crappy dell inspiron for a few days, and no matter what game I try to play (even RUNESCAPE) it overheats after 5 minutes.

Anyone know some quick fixes?
Your laptop is probably not designed to play video games. You could try using one of these, should help a bit:

Nawh, I mean I just need like a program or something, it doesn't even get hot, it just shuts off.

That's not a very good sign ! You could try using a game booster:

I used to keep my Dell laptop next to my window, might sound stupid but it stopped it from overheating after long duration of playing games.

Tried that, it didn't work :(

This computer sucks :(
Try removing as many of the bottom plates as possible, to allow more air flow. Then use canned air to clean the air passageways and the fan.

Another thing to look into doing, if you feel comfortable and have some thermal compound at your location, would be to take the machine apart and apply the thermal compound to the CPU and GPU. This takes some skill/knowledge and time to do, though you can find videos of how to take your laptop apart I am sure.

As for a program to really help it not over heat, you just have to limit the load/resources being used on the machine to lower heat in this instance... Some programs may do this, I always do it manually as I know what I want/need better than some program.
I use a Dell Insprion 15r, I have experienced the same issues at times. The best advice I could give you is what I did.

1.Get four 2 inch tall spacers (cardboard tubing or plastic doesn't matter).
2.Place them under the the four rubber "s" under it.(make sure the tubing doesn't go to far out)
3.Remove the keyboard and use a external one.

It is a little "ghetto rigged" but heck these Dell laptops heat up like hell if not given the proper cooling, the ventilation on them sucks.

Basically further ideas to my post about removing the bottom plates to allow more airflow and cleaning out the fans/air passageways. Though this is more 'ghetto' rigging than just removing places you wont see when it's on a desk.

The keyboard being removed would help some, though I thought the holding casing for the keyboard has a pretty solid covered metal plate?
check the bios and deactivate the shutdown after heat problems, also you could clean the fans

The limitations for temperature are normally there for a reason, so I wouldn't highly recommend this . . .

If it was to not shut down when needed, it could cause significant damage to the system and cause permanent failure/damage.
You could also try not sitting it on your lap. A "lap" top isn't a laptop. Also you didn't tell us your specs so we have no way of knowing if the computer is designed for gaming.
It is pretty solid but there is several holes and with out the keyboard there it allows the casing to have direct air contact, so it just that much more. But the fans need a lot of space under them to allow good air flow because the air flow on these laptops is very poor.

Don't think he really needs to for what he was asking...

Oh that sounds about right now that you mention it... Anyway, you seem to have a better handle on his exact model :) Thanks for covering for me haha
Your welcome anything I can do to help. But I have been using this model for about 3 years now. I've had a lot of ups and downs but I know it inside and out.
