C

Favorite C compiler for Windows?

I want to start working with C language. On windows at the moment and was wondering what compiler and debugger is most compatible for windows and user functionality? All suggestions welcome.
From my own experience I'd recommend using PellesC to start learning. Once you can code fluently switch over to Visual C++.
Microsoft's Visual C++ straight away. 🎉

I enjoy Codeblocks as it is quite simple, but different people have different preferences. I see most big projects coded in Visual Studio.

Oh shit, sorry, Just realised you were talking about C.
Microsoft's compiler is really nice, since it comes with Visual Studio which I think is an amazing IDE. Except past few weeks I've shifted over to gcc, and beginning to like that more than Microsoft's compiler. I think Microsoft's compiler does a lot for you when it comes to optimization, which I don't like; however, I like Microsoft's syntax of inline assembly. And gcc's is hard to grasp for me. Since it's a struggle between which compiler to chose. The other downside is gcc can't be used with Visual Studio, but I suppose if you're not worried about debugging then you can just write in VS and compile in gcc. I also don't like Microsoft's idea of typedefining all C datatypes into datatypes that only their compiler understands. So over all my choice is gcc. I feel like if you get used to Microsoft's compiler, you won't want to switch over to another or have difficulty when you do.
None of those are compilers. They are IDEs. @OP, i highly suggest getting cygwin and install gcc on it.

Visual Studio comes with Microsoft's compiler. And I also stated it's a downside that Visual Studio doesn't allow use of other compilers. I would prefer gcc with VS.
I like minGw that comes with Dev-C++

http://sourceforge.net/projects/orwelldevcpp/ - most uptodate version.
MAKE REP GREAT AGAIN 2027
For bigger projects: VC++

For smaller projects: Code::Blocks & MinGW

OT, how many of you code in C? I see very little tutorials on learning the language.
visual studio, mingw is fucking retarded and code::blocks is even worse

I do (a bunch of years now). Don't learn from HF tutorials. Most of them are complete shit and most cover only the basics (I wonder how this comes cough 😅). Buy yourself a book about C and take some time to read it.

You can learn to code by reading/watching tutorials, but you can't be a "coder/programmer" by reading/watching tutorials.
Just get a descent book like: C++ The complete reference, 4th edition and then read it while coding simultaneously. 🤫

+1 on cygwin + gcc.

Should work wonders.
Microsoft Visual Studio + Virtual Assist X.
