Review:

Plot:

Yuyushiki is a very decent anime. However, as Einstein would say, you wouldn't judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree. The same is the case with Yuyushiki, and so I won't spend too much time dwelling on the plot. The fact of the matter is, Yuyushiki has the same kind of comedy style as Lucky Star or K-on!, completely plotless.

Actually, I'm not sure it would be completely fair to say that there was no plot in the story, but the little plot that was there was extremely subtle. You could say that the plot was the progress of trying to make the main character enjoy life more, and be more happy; the show kind of embodied that journey. To most people though, the show is nothing more than cuteness and ridiculous humor.

Characters:

The characters in this show were well thought out, and did something fairly interesting, in my opinion. I'll go over a couple of them.
The show revolved mainly around the 3 main characters: Yui, Yukari, and Yuzuko.

Yui can be considered the real "Main Character" of the story, because although the show technically has 3 main characters, it tends to revolve mainly around her. Yui Ichii was voiced by Minami Tsuda. Her role to her friends was to be the voice of reason whenever they wanted to do something stupid. She was a complete Tsundere. Although she is less fun than the other characters, you can't help but love her.

Yukari Hinata, voiced by Risa Taneda, is a cute, lovable character, who's goal is to light up the show, and the main character. She is childhood friends with the Yui, and from a rich family (The K-on equivalent of Mugi)

Lastly, Yuzuko Nonohara, who is voiced by Rumi Ookubo. She is the hilarious, yet semi-crazy main character, sometimes going into full Yandere mode. She also is most likely a lesbian.

So, what makes these characters interesting? Well, here is where the team really got it perfectly. First off, they made the character a Tsundere, which is easily the most popular character-type among viewers. Next, they made two funny support characters, that you would fall in love with due to the humor. Finally, they made both of those support characters madly in love with the main character. That may seem a bit confusing, but let me explain that. Both Yuzuko and Yukari had huge crushes on Yui, so they were constantly complimenting her, and pointing out the good things about her, and bringing out the best of her. On top of that, other, smaller characters started to like her as well. When that happens, you subconsciously want to jump on the bandwagon and like her, too. In short, they made a super-MC.

Thoughts:

Besides how brilliantly they developed the main character, the best thing about this show was, of course, the comedy. There were plenty of parts that made me laugh so hard that I had to pause the show in order to catch my breath. Now, the comedy style used isn't really for everyone, and it targets a fairly small audience. Because of this, there are a few times where it may seem boring, because the jokes just aren't getting to you.

The show is similar to K-on in quite a few ways. However, as of late the style of show has begun to get so popular that it's starting to get worn out and overused.

Many of the jokes in this show were sexual. In fact, there was so much sexual reference in this show that it seemed they were almost trying to tease the viewer. It wasn't quite a "tease", but it was enough to make the viewer keep watching in hopes that "something would happen". Short story short, nothing like that happened, so don't focus on that much, it's not an ecchi.

If you like jokes, dry humor, cute girls doing cute things, and basically just laughing out loud for 12 episodes straight, then this is the show for you.

My Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ 7.5/10

MAL Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ 7.54/10
Awesome thanks for the share! Absolutely loved it!
I will probably check it out if I can find somewhere to download it or if its on Crunchyroll. My computer is very bad for streaming things.

I used to provide download links in the thread, and I still would, but I was informed that I was breaking site rules by doing so. Sorry about that :p
All good man, it is on Crunchyroll. Crisis averted.
I was thinking about making a thread for this last night actually. I'm glad you beat me to it though.. yours looks very good and is very detailed. Nice job.

It's great to come home at night after a long day of work, turn off my mind, kick back, and watch shows like this. I enjoyed K-ON! more than I should have, so I guess I'm not surprised I enjoy this too. The thing that has surprised me the most with this show though, is the humor. Some of it is very well thought out, some of it not, some of it is just plain ridiculous (in a good way), and I've found myself laughing out loud quite a few times. Also, like you said, the character types and development are also well thought out and work very well together. It's hilarious how they interact with each other and how their group is deemed "weird" by all their other classmates. I have to say, out of the three, Yukari is definitely my favorite :)

Side note: Funny how similar Aiura [http://myanimelist.net/anime/17082/Aiura] and this show seem to be just by looks. I really wish that they would have made Aiura a full length . I think it could've been very good. Oh well though, still enjoy the 2 minutes per episode

I really agree with this. I really enjoyed Aiura each episode, but it was so short that I would forget everything that happened by the time the next episode came out. I just downloaded the series again though so I can rewatch it in one sitting
Great review Eminent. I have seen a lot about the show on 4chan actually. I'll check it out at some point ^^

BTW: Added to the AA Review Mega Thread
Great review! Just like topsykrett2306 said, it was a great show to watch after a long day at work. :)

I also agree about Aiura, it should've been a full lenght show.
Maybe after all the positive criticism they'll make a full length series :D
I still need to finish Date a Live sadly. I will have to check this out.
