Plot Summary:

Thirty years ago disasters started happening around Eurasia. These disasters are known as spacequakes. These disasters happen without warning. These "spacequakes" have left over 150 million people in its wake. Ever since that day, mankind has lived in constant that fear when will the next space recur.

One day, an ordinary teenage boy named Shidou Itsuka discovers a mysterious girl in a random recurring spacequake. Shidou Itsuka learns with his sister Kotori Itsuka that these spacequakes occur by some mystical supernatural being. With the help of a anti-spirit spacecraft and his sister's fleet of helpers, they try their hardest to control the "spirits". Thus, ending mankind's biggest disaster.

Review:

Breasts, cute girls, massive explosions, cute girls fighting each other, is basically this anime.

In this anime, you really won't expect much. I'm not a master by all means rating anime, but this story is a bit predicting. You can basically predict what happens after episode 3, and the opening is a bit revealing as some of those characters you will see later on during the series. The enjoyment of watching anime is basically just watching it for the cute girls, explosions, and breasts. The fighting scenes are really not as detailed, and it somewhat makes fun of mecha. Instead of robots, girls fight each other with swords and weapons that somehow have no recoil. (Fuck you Call of Duty! - Kidding.)

I'm not here to spoil anyone, but the show is very self-explanatory. They try to make it into a comedy and a very serious show at the same time. Some of the humor is a bit funny and ALL of it is girl drama. (In my opinion girl drama is quite funny.)

If you like cute girls in anime, you will enjoy this. Tsunako makes some great character designs, and even if you Google a few, you will find some very familiar characters in this anime. She makes them have personalities, and that is what i really like anime for. Kurumi Tokisaki is a very appealing character, and throughout the anime you get to see her very appealing outfits and such. The personalites of the girl's are very equal, and there isn't really much else to say about them. Like I said, if you enjoy cute anime girls, I think you'll enjoy this. If you are a fan of girls with weapons also, I think you'll enjoy it too.

Characters:

Shidou Itsuka is a sixteen year old boy. In the beginning of the anime you can see that he is very nice to his little sister and also very shy. He attends Raizen High School, that is where most of the anime will take place, along with the outside world. Later on in the anime you'll learn a little bit more about his personal life.

Kotori Itsuka is a fourteen year old girl who is Shidou's sister. She is the head commander of the anti-spirit space craft. Her job is to teach her brother how to "seal" the spirits and why spacequakes happen. - Later on this teaches Shidou to be a little bit more "romantic" I suppose, and less shy.

Origami Tobiichi is also a student at Raizen High School. In the anime she'll be referred as "Smart Genius". She is known to have very high grades, and very intellectual. (She is almost robot like) While she is away from highschool she trains with the AST. (Anti-Spirit Team) She is one of the most experienced and trained soldiers in AST.

Tohka Yatogami in the anime is referred to as "Princess". She is later given the name "Tohka" by Shidou. Because she is a spirit, she is constantly targeted by the AST. The reason why the AST targets spirits is because they are known to kill civilians. In the anime you'll see more of her personality, and realize she isn't a bad character after all.

Thoughts:

Most of my thoughts/opinions were said in the review. I have not much else to say besides if you're looking for an anime with very cute girls and a somewhat lacking story, this might be for you. There is mild nudity in the anime, and not much else is revealing. Most of the nudity that is shown is just for laughs and giggles. If you like any of the girls, marry one.

Nice review but I didn't think the story was too predictable. It was a fun watch and definitely had me wanting more since I had to wait for the last episode.

I really enjoyed DATE A LIVE a lot. It was quite a "different" harem anime of sorts. Oh and yeah Touka is mine you guys can't have her!

Well I believe your review is quite accurate, I have to disagree with the part that it was unpredicated. Atleast in my case it wasn't. There were a few scenes that you could kind of predict would happen but it's not to many of those scenes that would make Date A Live any less enjoyabe for people. As for the thing you showed in the forums, it seems like season 2 will be even more dramatic and have a better climax for it. Thanks for posting this review though, was starting to doubt that anyone on the forums was going to post one for it, keep up the good work ;)

I enjoyed this anime. It's pretty good but I thought the whole plot would revolve around Tohka. When he sealed her power, I thought it was done. Another one of those "short" animes. But it surprised me and kept going so it has kept my interest for awhile.

I thought this but I was wrong.

I'll probably start reading the manga soon. The manga appears to be very similar.
