Currently if you're a regular user you're white, a l33t is yellow and an ub3r is blue. But when you join a group on HF and you change your primary group your name gets white again.
I think it's a bit vague to recognize a l33t or ub3r member that's in a group unless you click on their profile. Well, ub3rs have their sapphires, but still I think adding a general color like "red" or something for a group member might be a good idea. Just something I was thinking.
Removed - I completely misread it .
Sorry

There's no real benefit of this. Just click on their profile, it isn't that hard.

I think by group suggestions Omni meant new groups, not suggestions applying to groups. Though I do disagree with this one.
Nah white is better it would be a mess if every group get his own colour.

I like it the way it is. It would be annoying if I looked at the bottom of the screen to see who's online and there's a rainbow of usernames.
I really like the white color that some users have. Like Shoppa said, it would look a mess.

No, I mean a general color like "red" that counts for all custom groups, whilst the official groups still remain having their own color. Because I noticed that when somebody picks a custom group as primary their username color gets back to white. So there's only one extra color at the bottom when you look who's online, that'd be for example red. ;)
I think White keeps it neat looking. I like it how it is.

How is that vague? If you're l33t and want to be yellow username then you set that as your primary. I will not add any special colors to usernames of groups.

Only 2 colors that matter...yellow and blue. Those are the upgraded groups. I had red for the Limited (now removed) group but I no longer use it and don't plan on having red color group names.
I try to keep the visual from HF as simple as I can.
