I've been using Skype for this feature with their 'Online number' for years now, however, due to the fact they're deprecating their API for desktop clients starting in December I will no longer be able to use them.
So, here goes, I need a service I can buy my own dedicated English LANDLINE number on, and, make incoming & outgoing calls on it. I also need to have OUTGOING text messages (Incoming would be nice too, but, far from required).

Does anyone know any software like this? I've only got about 20 days before skype goes bye-bye.

Few other requirements:-
- Either web-based (E.G. in browser), or, works on Windows & Linux
- Pidgin support would be a HUGE plus. I'd be willing to pay 150% the price of other services for it
