I want to start off by saying I hope everyone had a good Christmas and Happy New Year.
I have a huge problem with my computer lately after fixing the bandwidth problem I was talking about earlier on windows 7. My computer has sporadic severe jam ups that cause me to either restart it, wait fifteen minutes or force the machine to shut off. The problem started when I in some way got "Dosearch" installed on internet explorer. It changed my homepages and can't get it to go to my original home page. I had it in my firefox, but I was able to fix it with a clean install. I did a search on how to remove it with spybot search and destroy, but it didn't work. Now my taskbar jams up sporadically and can't figure it out. I'd take a video screen shot of it, but it's sporadic without warning. Can someone advise me about how to fix it?
you are infected, install malwarebytes scan your computer and change your browser to opera or chrome. see if it helps

Thank you for the advice you've given so far. Unfortunately, that hasn't helped. I installed malwarebytes, like you suggested, but it "Supposedly" didn't find malware. The taskbar still jams up sporadically. It takes it fifteen minutes to unjam, or I have to press the power button in order to get it to unjam. Now, during video converting, videos are "Starting to have problems" because the video converter jams up, causing me to have to stop the converting and start the process over after I delete the video from the job list on there. I have to say that this is the weirdest problem I've dealt with with windows.
Start up your computer in safemode before running malwarebytes. Most likely the malware is trying to prevent malwarebytes from working.

I needed to update this thread in hopes of a second or third opinion.
I did a scan on malwarebytes like you suggested. The only thing it found were "Registry errors" in it.
I recently got an error "Your hard drive has iminant damage, back up your files and get a new hard drive" message last Friday after the media player on my windows side of my computer jammed up unmercifully I went to reboot and found out it wouldn't go through the windows logo. I did a disc check. It wound up going for about 48hrs and showed a lot if "Truncated" and "Orphaned" files. Some of them were system files, and some of them were index "." After that I was able to get it to get to the desktop, but unfortunately, it moves at a snail's pace. If I move a file from the computer to my external hard drive, it only goes at 800kb\s instead of the typical 30mb\s either through windows or Linux while windows is used as a spare hard drive.
My question is, after all the malware problems and periodically jamming up, is there an actual hardware problem, or is the file system so messed up that I need to restore it with my acronis image file? Or is it that the mbr or mft is messed up.
I'm in the process of transferring my files to a 2 terabyte sub hard drive, but it's going at a snail's pace. So far, I can't get them to transfer faster than 147kb\s to 500kb\s when it's supposed to go about 30mb\s.
I have about 1 terabyte worth of data.

First off, I'm kind of speechless. Did you seriously spend the last couple months in this state instead of just reinstalling the damn thing from scratch and/or getting a new drive? How is that even possible?
As for your question, I can't be sure unless I take an actual look at the box myself but from what you've described, it sure sounds like your drive is done for. Unless that data is ridiculously important to you, I would consider it gone. Copying that much at those speeds? Takes more than a week. One error, one power-surge and you can start at the beginning.
In case you still want to try to save it;
Do it via a live-cd. That way, the drive doesn't have to support an entire os.
How have you been like this for the last 5 months and not hot the MRT or atleast the member 'Aura' to check this out.

Thanks for replying :)
To tell you the truth, the problems weren't this severe until now. Other than periodic jamming, the computer was working fine. There were a few times when sound came out like a vibrating voice, but with a few disc defrags and a disc check, they were dealt with. I didn't think anything of it because the problems were cured. I've had the malware problem for only a few months. It only gave out last Friday without warning. I can still use the drive like a slave one while I've been using my live DVD of Linux, but the transfer rate is a snail's pace. Even with the live DVD of Linux, why is the usb transfer rate a snail's pace?
Since it deleted a few files like the page file and orphaned and truncated a few others, could it be a corrupt file system? Could the mbr and mft be messed up? Even if I'm using a live version of Linux, shouldn't the transfer rate be normal instead of the 400kb\s I'm getting? I don't like reinstalling operating systems unless I have to.

If your problems are this bad you should just trash that PC and get a new one, get avast on your next computer and get chrome too. Allow avast to be an extension on chrome. This way, nothing can be downloaded without you knowing, if it's a Trojan most of the time avast will block it. I would also recommend at least weekly scans with avast and malwarebytes.

Again, kind of speechless.

As I said, I can't say for sure without actually taking a look at the machine. Sure, I could write a few pages worth of stuff you could check up upon, but in all honesty, I'm not going to do that for a drive that, according to your description, is most likely broken. Sure, it could be something else and you should test the drive in another box before trashing it but all in all, the behavior you describe is typical for a hardware-failure. Test, buy a new one, reinstall and be done with it.
As for your data; I still don't know how important that stuff is to you but know that, if the drive is broken, it'll get worse and worse. Don't experiment. If copying doesn't work the first time, it won't work the fifth or tenth either. At this point, consider hiring a professional.
