[MyBB] Creating Board Messages Without Plugin

MyBB board messages are great when you use them as a global message to all users, simply because there is no need for any plugins and it is really simple and quick to edit. In this tutorial I will show you how to do so.

Go to Admin CP > Templates & Style > Templates > (your default template) > Header Templates > header and at the bottom of the code on the next available line add the following:

Code
<div style="text-align: center;"><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4" class="tborder"><tr><td class="thead"><strong>Board Message</strong></td></tr><tr><td class="trow1">This is the first board message, edit me to add your announcement.</td></tr></table></div><br />

A new MyBB board messages box should appear on every page of your forum now, it uses HTML format. It’s very simple but very customizable if you know basic HTML. For example if you want to be fancy you can add different colors to the text such as highlights, example code:

Code
<div style="text-align: center;"><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4" class="tborder"><tr><td class="thead"><strong>My Board Message</strong></td></tr><tr><td class="trow1"><span style="background-color: #BAFFBF;"><strong>This is the first board message, edit me to add your announcement.</strong></span><br /><span style="background-color: #F0FFBA;">This is the second board message, edit me to add your announcement.</span><br /><span style="background-color: #FFBABA;">This is the third board message, edit me to add your announcement.</span></td></tr></table></div><br />

See, how easy was that?
Seems a bit inconvenient to have to edit the template every time you want an announcement, no?

Also you would have to comment it out or remove it any time you don't have an announcement. Why is your solution better than plugins?

1. Most, if not all announcement plugins either A) look ugly as shit or B) are filled with bugs and are easy to exploit, like Janota's for example.

2. This is much more easy and safe seeing as it is only 1 template edit, and you can also style it any way you like, which you are limited to with plugins.

Also I would like to point out, I didn't say this method was better than plugins, I am simply showing MyBB noobs an alternate method.
This idea is nice and simple for a good first board message. I am new and trying to learn, thank you for your help. :)

Should add your reasoning to the first post, so those who view this know advantages to doing this.

My advice.

If you can do something without the need to add a plug in, do it. Why fill your forum full of plug ins when you don't need to. It's not hard to edit code and remove a template. 🤫

Exactly my point. Plugins are for necessities and nothing else, otherwise you are adding server load for no reason.
