Soo I had an idea to Re-Vamp the "group memberships" page in the user control panel.

I had written up a nice thread and then closed it on accident while trying to code an example of the page.. so this will just be a rough sketch-up of the idea.

So you would go to the usergroups page and you can click the join group button, and then when you do that you can select a sector to apply for like.. blue green or red. Then each one of those will have a form that the group leaders can customize to their needs and maybe a section below the forum for information about the sector just like the thread would have.

This will then be sent to a special folder or something in their inbox for applications and they can go though them and look at them. You could set a policy where you can only apply for each group 1 time per month.

I just went to this page today by accident and thought it should have some re-vamping.

Ideas? Thoughts? Nay? Yay?

Omniscient has stated in the past he wants to add a lot more to group functionality, but it isn't on top of his priorities list. One day I'm sure tons of new group features will come out of the blue.

So sorry if I miss read but I think this is what you mean.
When you go to join a group via User CP and you click join group it should give you an option for what sector you want to be in?

Just saying if you try to join a group through User CP you probably won't get in and you may also get blacklisted from the group.

It's a nice idea but as Ty said most group owners absolutely hate when you apply via User CP. If there was a major overhaul of the feature this might change but for the time being it'll usually get you permanently declined if you do apply using that page.

If you apply to groups via user-cp you will not be accepted that's why they have recruitment threads, also not all groups have sectors. What if a sector leader wasn't a group leader then they couldn't see the application. Groups have a lot of potential but not in this direction to be honest.

OP:

While I agree with the point there should be greater functionality, and Omni has stated he wants more group functionality functions,
I seriously doubt something like this is going to happen (that being having the forms or something a group owner can create) mostly
due to the security concerns that COULD pop up or may arise when out.
