Gaming is a huge part of HF imo, but there are some things I'd suggest to move around and clean up due to;
- Inactivity
- Growth
- Organisation
Terraria's subforum is extremely inactive, with the last post being since January. I think posts should be merged into the Gaming Lounge and the forum deleted. I see that Omniscient has made a post saying the section will be deleted, but probably hasn't gotten around to it.
MapleStory seems like quite an inactive game on HF, there is approximately a couple of posts a day, once again, I suggest this category to be deleted and posts moved to the Gaming Lounge.
Habbo Hotel, while it is a fairly active game on HF, I don't think it should get its own section. Same as the games above is my idea.
The Elder Scrolls, same as above, pretty dead, not enough activity to warrant a section imo.
Defense of the Ancients, I don't even know what this game is, pretty dead section too. Same as above.
After the movement of threads and deletion of forums, if that is done, I suggest moving the forums in Blizzard Games into Computer and Gaming's category.
A few forums in there should also have their threads moved to the Gaming Lounge and be deleted too, due to activity.
Heartstone is pretty inactive, and imo doesn't warrant its own forum.
Starcraft, I can remember when this game was big, sadly the subforum is inactive. Same as above.
Diablo, this one should be gone too, same process as above.
World of Warcraft is pretty inactive tbh, possibly deleted too.
So, in theory, Blizzard Games deleted, possibly WoW moved.
If necessary, create a forum for Blizzard Games instead, but I think the Gaming Lounge shall suffice.
Ordering, I'd like to suggest the Xbox forums get moved down one, that means both the consoles are ordered together, FPS games should get moved up near Computer Gaming, then the consoles, and then the individual games.
League of Legends, with this being an active and popular game, I suggest it to be moved outside of Computer Gaming and into main Gaming area with Minecraft and GTA. Why? I think it deserves a spot higher, with it becoming increasingly popular. I also suggest the ficon to be changed for it.
Finally, split up FPS games, https://hackforums.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=246, with some games not being hidden under Computer Gaming I think it's fair that BF and COD aren't hidden under the FPS category and both are moved up one node, and DayZ and CS to be moved under Computer Gaming, then disband the FPS Games sub-category.
https://hackforums.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=246
All of their forum icons look like 2010 icons for the games, pretty outdated, newer ficons would be nice.
* Community Addition by Fleexie: Split up DayZ too.
Community Additions:
Couldn't agree anymore, I think the gaming section needs a fresh start with sorting out the sub-forums.
+1

I kinda stated that, the thread says that it is to be deleted but Omniscient never got around to that probably, I said that in the quote lmao.

You actually said that Omni said that he will close it, but he said that he will eventually delete it as it is already closed.

Eventually it will be removed from the site.
There is simply not enough activity here.
Hey

When I said will be closed, I meant will be deleted, I think you're just trying to be awkward because I stated I read the post by Omniscient in that section, and there's only that one regarding closure. There's no need to be stuck up about it, you get the point.

I'm not trying to be "awkward" or stuck up, I just saw an error in your post and thought that you didn't realize it so I decided to let you know about it.

That's fine, just the way it was mentioned seemed that way. Seemed like a more "hostile" approach, if that word works in that context.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that it would come across as hostile 😟
Hey
The section does need some reform as well as TLC, but I'm not convinced on exactly what you proposed. It seems to favor consoles a bit, but overall I agree for the most part. A lot of the sections are just dead.

Not at all, Xbox is moved down to group it together with Sony Gaming, and the general games are below that, as they are right now.
Some more things that could be done:
Remove Rust section, as it isn't that active, actually it wasn't even active when it was created.
Why keep Battlefield and DayZ?
Neither of them are that active. I know the games are popular but the sub-forums aren't that active.
Perhaps a game sub-forum should have a certain amount of activity to stay. We have some sections that haven't been active for ages.
By the way Defense of the Ancients = DotA
A pretty popular game on Steam (DotA 2 that is). But it is not discussed that much on here. However I think it was created because the original DotA (which was a mod) was one of the very first MOBA games (LoL is the most popular MOBA)
But the Defense of the Ancients is definitely in active so it should be removed just like a lot of the gaming sub-forums.
In my opinion less is more. Lesser sections = More activity in the ones we have.
I was going to update a thread I made quite some time ago which basically suggested the same but you beat me to it :)
Anyway Omni mentioned he would look into it :) So we may see some changes in the future. But I doubt it will be very soon as he got a lot of other things to look at, like 3P1C.

Rust is a growing game, I don't think the forum for it should be removed. As long as the bottom of the forum has threads from yesterday and no threads on the first page has a date on it then I think the subforum isn't too bad. Rust can stay IMHO.
Battlefield 4 just brought the standard for FPS higher, the game is going to overtake the CODs by BF5 imo and I think it's active enough to deserve the section. I mentioned DayZ in OP I think for possible removal.

It shouldn't matter one bit that the games may get more activity in the future. The sub-forum was created way too early because of people said it would be really really active. While it was on it's peak it barely got 1 page full of new replies.
If you look at the bottom of the first page: 04-05-2014 (DD-MM-YYYY) I wouldn't call that active when it has threads which haven't got posts in over 10 days.
Once one of the staff members mentioned games in early access/alpha/beta wouldn't get a sub-forum. But with Rust there was an exception and look at it now. The game is not that popular anymore. And the section isn't that active.
BF4 may be a good game but the activity on this forum? Nope.
As people always mentions when people suggest new forums: It doesn't matter if the game is good or popular (a lot are playing it) what matters is if it is active on here. Also if you think like one year in the future then it should just get removed.
The Battlefield section still has thread with latest post from last month on the first page. In my opinion that is definitely not active.
You mentioned DayZ here:
"Finally, this probably won't happen, but possibly split up FPS games, https://hackforums.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=246, with some games not being hidden under Computer Gaming I think it's fair that BF and COD aren't hidden under the FPS category and both are moved up one node, and DayZ and CS to be moved under Computer Gaming."
I can't see were you states it should be removed.

Okay, maybe Rust should be added to my list of removals then 🎉
Battlefield shouldn't be gone as far as it goes, regardless of activity, because with ordering I think it can be brought back to life if given more attention.
And woops, I said it to Nick though, I left it out so I didn't seem like a 100% remover apparently.

Adding a 'Steam' forum would be a way to reduce some of the less-active sub-forums like Rust, Dota, DayZ and Terraria and then move the Counter Strike sub-forum there instead?
That way we reduce the amount of sub-forums that are being inactive and on the same time opening up for Valve's games and other popular titles on Steam into one active sub-forum.
