Getting into film photography. Tips?

My friend let me hold on to an old Minolta Maxxum x7000 and I really dig the camera. I have went through a roll and a half of film but haven't developed anything yet. I wanted to know if anyone had any tips to get a great shot. Also any creative ideas for subjects?
You have just way to broad of questions. Just make sure you get the composition correct.
What do you mean? I guess I'm trying to ask if there are any relatively uncommon techniques that I'm sure not to know about.
Make sure you are using the correct settings when shooting, you don't have a photo to bright, dark, blurry , etc.
