Hello

A while ago someone already suggested a box beneath of sections with info about the top-posters in that section. (Rank from 1-5 most active people in that section).

But for different reasons that suggestion was not approved. A few of those reasons were: Design would get poor, slower page-loads, lot of extra codes,...
And then it's a bit understandable it didn't got approved.

But still, I think it's a good idea; but we have to do it on an a bit other way.

Idea:
So, every month or so an extra thread will get posted in the Rules, Announcements, News, and Feedback section.
A thread that will contain a rank of the top 5 posters of each section.

Of course, only of the most important sections, and sub-sections are counted together.

The thread would look something like this:

The lounge:

1. Username - This user owns 10% of all posts in this section.
2. Username - This user owns 14% of all posts in this section.
3. Username - This user owns 23% of all posts in this section.
4. Username - This user owns 87% of all posts in this section.
5. Username - This user owns 2% of all posts in this section.

This month:
1. Username
2. Username
3. Username
4. Username
5. Username

Beginner Hacking Section:
Of-all-time:
1. Username
2. Username
3. Username
4. Username
5. Username

This month:
1. Username
2. Username
3. Username
4. Username
5. Username

White Hat Help:
Of-all-time:
1. Username
2. Username
3. Username
4. Username
5. Username

This month:
1. Username
2. Username
3. Username
4. Username
5. Username

Of course in this example I made it quickly, and the sections were chosen randomly.
If this idea would get implemented it of course would contain more sections, nicer graphics,...
It just was to make my idea more clear.

Pro's and cons of idea:

The pros:

• A lot of people would be happy with this idea
  


• More activity in sections
  


• Users would get a nice overview of the activity of users
  


• ...
  

The Con's:

• It does take time to make etc.
  

This would be ideal because it's a lot more flexible then a box on the bottom of the page, because design isn't really a problem (just a thread), No slower load of pages (just a thread), lot of extra codes (besides BBcodes, no code needed).

Spam:
Another reason a lot of people wouldn't get this implemented, is because of spam.
They thought that this would make people to spam, 'So they would get at top of the rank'.

However, I don't think this idea would cause spam. Spammers/LQ-posters can never win of normal active people in that section.
Spams/LQ-posts is not accepted in the HF-community (by admin and users) so those LQ-posters would see quickly that spamming/LQ-posting is not the way to go.
Spammers/LQ-posters, could get on a blacklist for that current month (for example).

Summary:

- Monthly Separated thread in Rules & Announcement section, or if needed it could get a place in the HF News Thread.
- Only of most important sections, and post in sub-sections are counted together (Example: Pentesting, Cryptography,... are all counted together as Advanced Hacking Section).

>Why better as box?
- Doesn't require extra coding, would mess-up the design or cause slow loading pages.
- A lot more flexible because you have more thread as in a box so more info about user/section can be given (Example: % Of all post user has in that section,...)

Because it's monthly, also new joined users can show how active they are in different sections, but veterans can also show their years of activity in those different sections.

It could be the mentor of that section who could make the thread, kinda unique suggestion I like it.

Support. I would be very happy if this feature would be implemented on the forum.

Seeing the top posters overall every month would be nice. Or even in here https://hackforums.net/stats.php , under general there could be displayed the top poster for the month alongside the top poster of the year would be a decent addition.

So for your idea you need a way to know the top posters in each section you select right?

If so...

This is not a reasonable query to run on a 30 million post forum with 300 separate forum id's.

This would need to maintained by someone and also encourages low quality posting.

It isn't a unique suggestion, it's been suggest a few times and denied. Someone would need to take on the burden to do this each month.

If you wished to do this on your own accord in the respective section, go ahead.
But it would not be an official thing.
