The story follows Ryou, a middle school girl who lives by herself. She has a knack for cooking and makes friendships with everyone through her food. The cooking manga is "full of detailed cuisine art to whet the appetite and slightly erotic meal scenes." The "koufuku" in the title is a wordplay on two Japanese homonyms—one which means "happiness," and another that means "appetite."
Akiyuki Shinbo will be chief director. Nisekoi's Naoyuki Tatsuwa is directing with the prolific and versatile Mari Okada writing series composition. Frequent Shaft animation director Kazuya Shiotsuki will be doing character designs.
Koufuku Grafitti is being produced by Shaft, one of the best studios out there when it comes to anime. Shaft imo is unmatched when it comes to visuals and I have high expectations for this anime. Hopefully we won't see another Mekakucity Actors. The first episode is slated to air Jan. 9, four days from now.
And please, for the sake of people that have yet to watch it, use spoiler tags.
Hopefully this doesn't end up as bad as Mekaku Shitty Actors. But hey, I get cooking, and SHAFT?
