Useless, you can use right click in a web browser and view source...

It's a beginner's program which starts building on critical themes of .net coding. It's not about how useful the app is.

You can also just open up Google and enter equations. Why would you need a calculator app then? (inb4 useful for offline, i know, it's just an example)

Everyone starts somewhere, and just because his app isn't useful doesn't mean he shouldn't get a little "hey, keep up the good work." Honestly, learning to code is one of the most boring things if you can't show someone what you are learning. It's like learning to ride a bike at 20 years old, but when you learn to ride it, you don't have anyone to say "hey, look at this." The other person would probably just be like you and say "wow, con-fucking-grats man, who cares?"

Good work.

Like Tedd already said its all about practice.

Keep up working on your own ideas. Thats how you get better! ;)

Good luck!

Good job if you made it by yourself without looking at Youtube videos or have been spoonfed the code.
I honestly expected the source. Even though this section is unmoderated I still think he should have provided a virus scan.

Such a simple program to give him grace. I honestly don't know what to make of this. It's so simple, why not just provide the source code to gain trust from users and let them perhaps advice you on coding habits or tell you "props, well written"

Indeed. This is the coding section, not a section to release new tools you made without providing the source, as simple as the program may be.
I didn't expect the sourcecode being like that..

For everyone wanting the source

Criticizing without arguing is pointless. I'd rather say it's pretty nicely coded for a beginner. There are a few exceptions handling, and he bothered using HttpWebRequest while he could have just used the Webclient class, and sum up all the shit to one line. Even though we then come to the point of using httpwebrequest when it's far shorter using the wrapper, it's good to use more "classical" ways of doing things when it's about learning, as all the languages don't have these over-simplified wrappers and it also helps you having a better comprehension of the way requests works.

To be honest your right Weakky, Have to admit 80% of the pop here would still struggle with a httpwebrequest so kudos to that. But still i would be honest and say it was shit so he will go away and improve it, rather then say "its good for a beginner" (maybe he won't try as hard to prove you wrong)! It is nice to see new people taking on a new language tho :) Always exciting times ahead ><
