Rename "Rate My Graphic"

I am creating a new thread, with essentially the exact same text, even word for word, as the last here since the orignal poster has a dead account and can no longer respond.

With the name "Rate my Graphic", it causes users to "rate" a piece using an arbitrary number system, with no basis or little reasoning. I believe that it should be renamed to something like "Graphic Critique", "Graphic Showcase and Discussion", or something along those lines, to discourage the use of numerical ratings, and to increase post quality in that subsection.

Why should you not use an arbitrary scale:

1) It does not help the artist in terms of where to improve.
The artist should be told:
-What makes the piece interesting?
-What do you find enjoyable about the piece?
-What seems like a weak area in their piece?
-What are potential ways to improve their piece?

2) Most people who post in the section put no basis behind their rating. Someone might rate a piece "7/10, I love it", but then give no reason behind deducting three points from their rating.

3) Even without a number rating, comments such as "it look good", do not help the artist, but rather boost their ego. Compliments are not wrong, but when artists get no constructive criticism, it hurts the artist.

"Rating" is not helpful to the artist, and at the same time it makes you look like you don't have any idea what you are talking about. Many people who post their work get offended at the first person that doesn't give them a "10/10" on their work. Changing the name would promote higher quality posts and more critique, preventing future tensions caused by offended artists.

Critiquing a piece is much higher quality and much more helpful than rating a piece.

Now you must be wondering. "Why is this a huge deal?"
Here's why:
1) Half the comments in there can be reported for LQ content. They contain one liners like "Nice job OP" or "10/10 looks good".
2) The section is used by individuals to easily increase their post count, number system or not.

I think it would be most beneficial to the artist, and for the sake of quality in the graphics section, to rename that subsection.

Thank you.

Adding a mandatory format when rating a thread would be more plausible, but I doubt that would ever get approved.

Just continue to report the post(s) which lack quality and Staff will take appropriate action if necessary.

And that could still happen, but renaming it encourages higher quality posts. You'll still have the people who say "keep it up love it", but with a change in name, other posters are more likely to add some detail. Especially since a lot of members who post in that section then head over to the Graphics Marketplace and try to sell their work. Critique helps them much better than a simple number with no or little reasoning behind it.
Yes, I fully support this. I'm a designer, and most of the replies in RMG are literally irrelevant. How does being told that your piece is 8/10 help at all? 8/10 what? How can I get the extra 2 points so I'm a 10/10? People just spam ratings or completely pointless LQPs like 'looks dope as fucking shit, holy fuck dope shit my man' to boost their post count, and this idea is a way to change this.

Well what we can do is link this thread on every Rate My Graphic thread as basic ethics for rating on that particular thread. That might raise awareness, and eventually you might even win.
I have reported like 50 posts in RMG today that were all low quality.
this needs to be fixed.
I can't agree with this more.
Not to mention that 90% of the people there are just lounge-faggots boosting their post-count, rating anything "8/10 nice work needs some work". These posts are of no value, as a forum in general is meant for discussion. Low quality posts like such are so prevalent that reporting them is ineffective, and don't spark discussion at all.
Just like people posting "I support this 1000000%" on threads in this section, or "nah this is bad fuck you we dont need this if we did omni would have done it"
I understand you on this even though I don't personally use the section. +1 the idea
I highly support this. I'd like my work to be reviewed, not rated out of 10. Although the current system works, I agree that it produces low quality post from those looking to increase their post count by jumping from thread to thread pasting the same rating for everything.

I hope this is implemented! thanks for the suggestion.
I support this. 10/10. Haha. This would be better and would help the artists more.
7/10 love it, keep it up buzz
I still believe this is crucial to maintaining the quality of the section, and the tab as a whole.
I completely agree with this thread. So many posts in the RMG sections are garbage.
Agree with this thread. This suggestion would highly improve that section significantly.
Glad you guys support this.
