So as shocking it is and really upsetting for me when I heard the news of "Manglobe" a studio well known for creating a big list of very popular titles suddenly goes bankrupt. Investors, partners, etc. Knew nothing about it and was shocked.
In case you don't know some of the titles.
-Gangsta
-Samurai Champloo
-Cowboy Bebop
-The world Only God Knows
-Ergo Proxy
One of my favorite, if not then my only favorite studios has been demolished. This certainly makes me want to support even after streaming. I don't want to have another good studio and their type of work disappear.
You can even look up sales of anime, they are all just about considered failures by the companies themselves. Angel Beats sell 10k copies in the first week and it is considered very low.
What are your thoughts on this?
Well they haven't produced a "hit" in years - last hit was in 2011, plus they switched from "what made money" to some other genre which doesn't produce any die hard fans, and can't really say that anime fans are to blame, they like what they like .. and that's kawaii shit, cute loli's, cute loli's grills doing cute shit, THAT'S THE FUTURE OF ANIME GET USE TO IT
That's why you don't see "Kyoto Animation" nor "Feel Animation" going bankrupt
Manglobe didn't produce Cowboy Bebop.

False statment, they did as long as i know
OP what are you saying the problem with anime is? Piracy? Otakus?
My personal opinion is that fat-japanese-culture-worshipping-otakus ruin anime for me. Makes it hard for me to enjoy any anime.

Okay... Wantanabe made both cowboy bebop and champloo. On topic though.

You're either mistaken or misinformed. Manglobe wasn't even created until 3-4 years after Cowboy Bebop had already been finished.

The world only god knows 2011 and megna 2013.
Gangsta 2015.
Many hits on crunchy roll and other sites, but never really any hits on sales.
A little late on the news, and the reason the sales are low is because of online streaming and torrenting
all
I believe the convenience of piracy has put alot of studios in debt.
Even if the show is mainstream and popular, only a fourth of the audience would actually support the studio by buying merchandise or subscriptions.
I loved "The World God Only Knows", I think the ending of season 3 was supposed to open for another. Too bad I wouldn't be able to see it now.

Yeah I saw Gangsta, but it wasn't a big thing, I believe most companies make money on merchandise; figures, tshirts, posters, etc (might be totally wrong) I don't see many people buying stuff for Gangsta
TBH they need to start investing worldwide and not only in Japan. They're basically only targetting Japan and giving literally no shits if people outside Japan watch their stuff or buys their stuff, their exportation is so low when compared to regular literature work from other countries(which don't even need to be famous).
If Japan gave a fuck and started investing worldwide anime would become more popular, higher viewer base and could potentially start selling their content worldwide.
Not only that but I'm pretty sure torrenting/streaming is illegal, if they targetted the big sites I'm sure it'd affect sales for positive. They don't necessarily need to shut down the sites but force them to remove the anime made by the studio.
Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria is a masterpiece 10/10

That's not how distribution works. Anime marketing in the west is handled by retail, which is in even worse shape than the Japanese market. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_an..._companies Not to mention anime in Japan is insane expensive. If our retail companies were to charge even two-thirds as much they'd go bankrupt within the hour. Westerners don't like paying for things, and the japs are wise to know that.
Second, read up:

If it was that easy the world would be a lot more simple.

I would like to state a fact here and that is, most of the studios could care less about their sales overseas, that is till the anime/manga or whatever it is gets licensed outside (most aren't btw), the reason studios are going bankrupt is within japan itself. Of course they want to control the piracy of their productions outside jap and that is why sites like chrunchyroll and alike exist, BUT the main reason is japan.
Yeah it could be that japs are torrenting/streaming too much as well but they are also very picky when it comes to their series, anime industry is a very tough one. For example here's one of the many reason japs won't support an anime; there's this manga X that's getting an anime adaptation, and manga X is a very popular one among readers (which are majority in japan) BUT the anime adaptation of manga X wasn't as good as the manga, so anime X gets a lot of hate in japan and is not supported by fans.
This has actually happened a lot of times and Gangsta. did not satisfy many btw, Deadman Wonderland too and I know a few others anime adaptations that got a lot of hate in japan because of this, some even got canceled and whatnot. Heck even us, occidental manga readers, complain with most anime adaptations if we've read the manga before it, let alone a japanese who read a lot more of this media and gets it first hand.
This is only one of the many problems anime industry has within japan.
However, don't get me wrong, I do think we should support anime industry. If I were not on a financial crisis I would as well buy all the anime I watch and even order untranlated from Japan just for the sake of it lol.
Hard to support an industry when you can barely support yourself. I believe that is the case with lots of people. And not every anime produced is going to become the next "big hit" like Naruto and One Piece. Most anime end up being too mediocre to even make it that far with fandom and merchandise.
