I want to start my own web hosting company - Question

I want to start my own hosting company as my first work in real life and on the internet. I want to make it fully legal too. Do I need to register it to the government? I live in Canada...

I'd appreciate help thanks :)
If you're serious then you'll want to form a limited liability company which would be registered for taxes and all that jazz. You don't actually need to, though, unless you're going to be making over a few thousand right away. FYI the Web hosting industry is quite saturated with companies that have prices you simply cannot beat. You'd better have a niche or a good angle on how to do hosting better in a noticeable way or don't expect to see much interest. Harsh, but honest.

Shoot me a PM if you ever need help with the technical stuff though, I'll probably be able to help.

Ok I'm not really expert in niche. What is a niche? I see bunch of people are talking about it but it sounds so boring. Lol

Alright thanks. WHen I get 25 posts I'll private message you.
I wouldn't even bother creating a Hosting company. By the sounds of it, you are too young to even consider starting a company which requires so much legal work (obviously dependant on and if your company sells a high amount of hosting packages).

Anyone can start a hosting company, there is nothing stopping you from buying a Reseller Package and selling it on to members of this forum or the public... However, there are several things you need to consider... You are going to be reliable as you are the Hosting Provider. If for whatever reason your provider goes down (explain it to your customer), if you have a relatively big customer using you for hosting and they sell online - you lose them money and the likely hood is it'll come back on you and you'll then be required to pay out or face a court case which is never good.

The list goes on and there are several guides on the internet that will help start a business, if you are going to go down this route - good luck and be very careful. Choose a creative name and make sure it hasn't been registered before, check the Trademark Database and Company House (not sure if that exists in Canada), have a "carefully" wrote Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions etc...

If you need help with setting up a business I'm willing to help.

No business is a "game" or a "quick way to make money", if you are serious about your idea: act professionally and don't cut corners.

It's important...

Very well worded, I was @ the same place as OP a few years back ready to make a minecraft server company and cut all corners ( Not doing the legal work, Crummy servers, Shitty ToS. Nulled plugins) That's why I've also offered to speak to OP about this, Maybe lead him in the right direction.
