Hello,

As a registered Apple developer, I'd like to use some of my free time developing a mobile application for the community.

I was thinking about using the PhoneGap framework, along with the Cordova platform in order to produce web based mobile HF applications for both Android, and iOS.

This way, everyone with simple knowledge of HTML/CSS, and Javascript can contribute to the development.

PhoneGap framework, is also used to produce the popular Facebook mobile application.

PhoneGap Framework:

This project requires the following committed knowledgeable members:

- Graphic Designers
- HTML/CSS Developers
- Javascript Developers (Optional)

With the current community statistics, along with the power of knowledge, commitment, and creativity, this application could easily become part of the top 100 on the App Store.

Omni doesn't want an app. He is going to redesign the site theme so that it works well on mobile browsers. An app would be a security risk, and is simply unnecessary.

How will the application poses security issues? Omni can review each, and every code within the files. He can also choose to upload the final file through his own Apple/Google Developer accounts'.

Why write a separate, native app, when you can redesign the existing web application to fit mobiles? Because HF doesn't need to utilize any of the phone's hardware, there isn't a point in making a mobile app. The best/most efficient solution would be to keep the current app (myBB) and port it (make a theme) for mobile.

Yes, thats what I thought as well after reading about the planned mobile theme.

A responsive theme is the best solution for this instead of mobile app. Also it will be with cross compatibly.

Hey, check this out. It allows you to have a mobile version of HF through the use of a userscript, which you can easily use on an android by installing Dolphin Browser and using this application or a tweak on an apple device.

Phonegap is nonsense, it's not stable at all and still buggy as hell.

Even if Omni wrote the app himself, it would still be unnecessary, and thus something else to have to worry about.

Phonegap is nonsense, it's not stable at all and still buggy as hell.

Not to mention the overhead that comes with heavy builds when you develop through abstraction.
