Early New Years Resolution

It bothers me that I go on-tilt sometimes and curse out members. Instead of checking my emotions I get bent and use inappropriate language. It's likely because I face no consequences for being the biggest asshole or the fact that maybe I just don't care about consequences. I've always been a "fuck you" type of person. But it has been bothering me. I realize that I'm probably causing too much grief and to be honest I get myself worked up probably more than deserves for what the member did. They don't deserve my wrath and I don't like being an asshole and getting worked up. And this has been bothering me for quite a while.

The past month or two I've actually consciously worked towards being more calm and professional and keeping my cool. Trying to send warnings without using curse words or ranting in general. I can't say I'm 100% effective but I have been better. Often I'll rant and then delete my text before I click send.

So today I'm doing an early New Years Resolution. I tend to do well with these and stick to them as I do take them seriously. I try each year to think of what I can do to make myself a better person. And I think calming down and being more professional when it comes to dealing with policy violations is the perfect resolution for me.

While a New Years Resolution itself is not a Site News, I think considering this actual resolution, I feel it's important to announce it publicly. It's one of those, once you say it then it's real, type of things.

I'm also going to briefly apologize for the fact I have not acted more professionally when dealing with some issues and members. All the swearing and cursing out I've done privately to members is something I do regret. Sorry, and I will work towards being a better calmer admin for this community.

I'm opting to close this thread because I think most replies will be either trolls or ass kissers. Plus I have a lot of work ahead of me today.

Thanks to all and hope you also come up with a New Years Resolution to improve yourself.
Omni, I'm really happy to see you sticking with this resolution. Good luck!
Great Resolution Omni, not many people have the insight to see their shortcomings and then even less have the initiative to try and change them. Props to you.
atleast u saw your own mistake and u are working on it.

cool.
No Omni dont get weak.

It's great that you've opened up this thread to allow community input.

You're not as bad as you think you are when it comes to this stuff. Sometimes people deserve the shit you give them.
I don't middleman any deals on- or off-site. Please don't message me requesting my past services and certainly don't fall for anybody who claims to be me.
I see that this is open now.

I read this thread after you linked me to it via PM. I just wanted to thank you again. I appreciate it more than you know. My New Years Resolution is to not let personal life conflicts interfere with my posting activity here on HF. I promise not to give you the shit I gave you last year and the years before. You didn't deserve it. There's no asskissing involved here, I was being a major dick and should not have been so slanderous. Happy New Year, Omni. I hope it is a good one.
I think that sometimes as members we are clueless as to what goes on behind-the-scenes of HF, That along with other community members instigating and reaching assumptions about your actions etc. i assume can be rather frustrating and even infuriating enough to tell anyone off - for someone in your position. Its nice to see you're working on becoming an more professional person that is always appreciated, We thank you for everything you're doing to keep HF running smoothly.

I understand what you are saying. It is good to let your anger out. Sure some members do not deserve the “wrath of Omniscient”. However, many do. When I first got on the forum, I did witness a lot of cursing but it is normal for me considering the line of work I am involved in. Whatever the case, do whatever makes you happy. With the CE section closing, I was expecting the cursing to make its return. You made good on your word. I look forward to all the new additions to the site now that you have additional time on your hands. Best wishes.

Glad you could share your New years resolution. I hope you can fulfill what you stated above. Cheers
Like 3 years ago I called you a "greedy bastard" as a joke in one thread..
Well you didn't appreciate my joke and took ub3r from me, perm denied and rep killed..
That's when I realized you were a "fuck you" type of person.. :(
I guess this was de-stickied and automatically re-opened or what happened here?

Anyway, it's been a good changes lately, i personally can't stand scammers.
Honestly, without talking about your PM's 'cause idk i always thought you were talking professionally in almost all of yours posts i saw addressing the community, some people just really deserved it.

That's my 2 centz.
Is understandable that someone of a high position would have to act like an asshole, I'd put as an example my General Manager, but i've figured that all the shit you have to put up with, ends up changing you, and making you as such a person who would deal with things more aggressively.

I totally understand having power, and owning something with a community is not easy work, i've done it before, din't take long before i gave up.

lol.. it could have looked to you and some as a joke, but he could have been going through some bad shit back then, and then he sees you, he would instantly take it as an insult.

I got out of the army 3 months ago and had the same issue. I was use to being the end all, be all word for the members in my team and I found out quickly that my old way of dealing with things ended up hurting me more in the civilian world. My wife was the first one to teach me that lesson.lol. It is a frustrating transition, but necessary in many day to day interactions.

OP made a thread about why was porn forum removed from HF, I said "Omni made porn forums (which he actually did) to make more profit, greedy bastard!" and the next morning stuff went down..
1) I never expected Omni to see my post
2) I knew that Omni had no upgrade/ad profit from the forum, so I couldn't mean it seriously
3) Whatever he was going trough in his life, this forum is his job, and part of the professionalism is to be objective and objectively a warning would be appropriate, even rep kill, even a 7 day ban, but demotion was really not deserved. I was ridiculously high quality member and if anything it contributed a lot into me leaning towards being less high quality.

Don't asskiss.
