Hi all, some days ago i have installed kali on "Oracle VM VirtualBox", i have a problem when i do dos attack.
i have tried ettercap d.o.s. attack plugin and also hping3. my problem is:
when i put a public ip, my connection will crash after 5-10 seconds, and my modem will restart.
anyone can tell me what could be the problem?

if it can help, tell you my connection config

my ADSL connection is:
ping 69-70ms
download speed: 10 mbps
upload speed: 1 mbps

my modem is:
Software version: 5.4.8.1.160.12.56.1.40
Model name: Vodafone Station Revolution
Version: Huawei 963168_HUAWEIVOX25

You could be DoS'ing yourself here. Run Wireshark to get more information on what is happening. I've noticed that Ettercap causes a DoS-like effect on your network (even when attempting a MiTM attack), try to clear your ARP tables and try again.

Them tools you mentioned are to dos clients in local network not public ip

As Grave said Ettercap is a tool that works on a LAN. Most likely is that you are DoS'ing yourself by sending all of the packets to your gateway (router) and knocking yourself offline.

so i cant dos public external ip whit these tools, you can suggest a great tool for DoS (for external public ip xD) ?
