Synopsis "Guts, known as the Black Swordsman, seeks sanctuary from the demonic forces that pursue him and his woman, and also vengeance against the man who branded him as an unholy sacrifice. Aided only by his titanic strength, skill, and sword, Guts must struggle against his bleak destiny, all the while fighting with a rage that might strip him of his humanity. Berserk is a dark and brooding story of outrageous swordplay and ominous fate, in the theme of Shakespeare's Macbeth." [Courtesy of MAL]
Why should I watch this show?
Berserk is a truly epic tale, following a badass swordsman and his misadventures. The series is extremely dark, graphic, and gory, as the 2016 adaptation will most likely be. A very important thing to note is that the series is 100% CGI, so keep that in mind if you do decide to give this a watch. This series takes place after the original Berserk anime (1997) and the Berserk Golden Age Arc trilogy of films. It will follow the Black Swordsman arc of the Berserk Manga, which hasn't been animated as of yet. Many fans are speculating whether this will be good or not, but many will tell you they just want to see more of Berserk animated. If you haven't seen the original Berserk anime, I recommend you go check it out along with this.

Why is CGI becoming more and more of a thing now? Is it because CGI is cheaper resource wise?
The only thing stopping me from watching this (and any other CGI anime) is the heavy visuals. Sometimes it just does more bad than good.

Yes I believe it is a ton cheaper, I really wanted to watch Ajin as the plot seemed sick but couldn't stand the CGI. I might be able to get through this one just because Berserk is the shit.
