Would you do anything to keep on living, even if it means killing for a living? Phantom attempts to discern this question in a philosophical anime that is expressed through a mafia story line, with our MC being thrust into the underworld against his will. The story is very much a roller coaster I will caution anyone watching this anime. There are several mini-arcs, in a sense, although the story is uniform overall. Initially, the story has you on the edge of your seat, only to derail in the middle with some odd side stories and then jump back at the very last moment. However, the anime does have 2 filler eps and foreshadows quite a bit with a good chunk of the story which I found irritating at times. While it may have been questionable near the end, you must endure the entire anime to truly appreciate a wonderful series of twists.

The art was very well done, as for the sound it was decent, however only the original OP was memorable, the second one seemed to lack. The character development was well done with the MC and some of the other main secondary characters. However, there was one point where a whole new set of characters were thrown into the anime for the sake of the plot which seemed rather incoherent at the time. Overall despite a few setbacks, it was rather an enjoyable anime, and I would recommend it for anyone seeking a mafia, psychological, or thriller anime with a good amount of action ;)

Watched this back in 2009. I have to say that I enjoyed even though the ending sucked. I have actually been meaning to getting around to re-watching it though.
